They dont do pie suppers in Oz, this is the chip shop my husband makes a bee line for whenever he is back in Dumfries. Straight in for a Pie supper ( pie and chips to the rest of the world) and why not finish with a double nugget wafer( rest of the world just trust me and order one!) Wash down with a can of Irn Brew what more can I say. Its also convenient for the hospital should your heart stop after eating all thisHi Runrig1890,...Phoa! This was one of the most disappointing lunches I've experienced. Despite only having 8 or 9 tables it took over 45 minutes to cook two burgers with chips. Both were wrong. My wife ordered the Chilli Burger but it came without chilli. When we pointed this out it returned with a scoop of chilli sauce. That's not a chilli burger. Especially in a place which claims to serve gourmet burgers. Mine came with no salad and a horrible looking slice of unmelted cheese. The chips were like something you'd expect from a dodgy kebab shop at 2 in the morning and both burgers were pretty dry, as were the oversized rolls they came in.I genuinely can't think of a single positive thing to say. Never again.First of all many thanks for your review. Feedback is very important and can only make us improve. In our first two weeks we have had 15 excellent reviews on Facebook with none negative. However I am not attempting to disagree with your review- what you were served was completely unacceptable. Our first two weeks have been really busy, probably too much for some of our new staff. We had s stock issue with our brioche buns due to our new freezer having sn electrical fault. This has now been permanently resolved. You have made a really good point about our chilli burger. We have now adapted this and have chilli directly into our meat as opposed to adding flavour externally. Anyway, I want you to have the same perception of Starkeys Gourmet Burger as 99% of our customers. If you will allow us can you return with your family for a meal on us? I also want to refund you for your first meal as quite simply this was below our standards. I ask that you understand we are a new business using Belted Beef from our town trying to inject life into the High Street in Dumfries. Once again sincere apologies.

Dined here last night and left without finishing the delicious bottle of wine we had ordered as my taste buds had been obliterated. Starter had so much salt that I had drunk the whole jug of table water to myself, then my pasta was so full of garlic that it literally burned my tongue - and I love garlic, but this was inedible. Told the waitress who couldn't have cared less. Horrendous attitude from staff. Would not recommend.

Visited here on Saturday evening 30th March. Visiting a friend who stays in Dumfries. What a great restaurant. I was impressed with the staff. All are young people (who usually get bad stick from some people) one wad nicer than the other. Very relaxed atmosphere. Ordered fish and it took a bit longer to cook. Waiter came over to apologise but to be honest we were that busy chatting we didn't notice the time. Both our meals were fantastic. Cooked to perfection as were the vegetables. Good selection of drinks. In all we had a very good ecperience. When I'm next in Dumfries I hope to visit. Was really taken how lovely the staff were. Also compliments to the Chef.

Dined at La Dolce Vita tonight. Having a break in Dumfries. Really nice atmosphere, friendly staff and great food. Starter of chunky vegetable soup was delicious, probably the best vegetable soup I have had whilst eating out. It was accompanied by a lovely piece of tasty bread. My husband had the seafood pizza which he said was very nice, lots of prawns, mussels and squid, and my mushroom risotto was amazing. Large chunks of Porcini mushrooms and perfectly cooked rice. What was nice as well was the fact that I was given a bowl of Parmesan cheese and it was not just grated on top when they brought my meal. Very reasonable price for the quality of the food. A return visit is a must!Many thanks to the waitress who ran after me down the street because I had forgotten my handbag!!!! I am so grateful. My excuse, I was distracted by the gorgeous food.

The best restaurant in Dumfries, wide range of food to suit all tastes. From pizza to a perfectly cooked steak, we go twice a month and have been for the past 3 years, NEVER had a bad meal yet. Highly recommended.

Visited recently on a trip to Dumfries and tried the dinner menu, which was excellent. Beautiful thin base pizzas, not at all greasy and loaded with vegetables. Great starters too, particularly the garlic mushrooms which were considerably better than those we've tried at other Italian restaurants over the years. Friendly staff, reasonable prices and on street parking on the road outside all added to the all round good vibes. Worth a visit.
