Find out what Bar restaurants to try in Stonehaven. Stonehaven (/stoʊnˈheɪvən/ ( listen); [stinˈhaiv] ( listen)) is a town in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It lies on Scotland's northeast coast and had a population of 11,602 (Scotland's Census 2011). After the demise of the town of Kincardine, which was gradually abandoned after the destruction of its royal castle in the Wars of Independence, the Scottish Parliament made Stonehaven the successor county town of Kincardineshire. Stonehaven had grown around an Iron Age fishing village, now the "Auld Toon" ("old town"), and expanded inland from the seaside. As late as the 16th century, old maps indicate the town was called Stonehyve, Stonehive, Pont also adding the alternative Duniness. It is known informally to locals as Stoney.

On the photos, the hotel is a little bit old fasion, but in reality it's very charming room.Clean, well equipped, not far from Dunnottar castle. Amazing breakfast with a good choice even for vegetarian.We do not eat at the restaurant, so i can not give recommendation about it, but the hotel is very good!

Loved our lunch at The Shipâs Inn! Erin made it special with her friendly service, Thanks, Erin! Great sitting out front people- watching and chatting with locals on our coastal touring day. We had seafood soup and fresh mussels, yum! And the surprise of a gluten free brownie with ice cream and hot fudge sauce!! This place used to be so busy but lately it's quiet. The food has really went down hill. A lot of people I know say they don't go there anymore. I've been visiting this establishment for many years. The food is invariably excellent, the setting wonderful, and the views stunning. That said, things seem to be going even greater guns for The Marine than usual. The food during my last visit was really outstanding, and it is helped by the management staying on top of such things as the venue's maintenance and refurbishment issues.When I need to impress visitors from outwith North East Scotland, this is usually my go to place. Keep it up.
