Reviewed By p_thompson80This hotel did not disappoint on our second visit. It is comfortable and clean and the service provided by Daniel and his team is outstanding. The food is excellent and there is a good range of beverages to choose from. The location is great for exploring the local area and we had the delight of staying there recently during the madness of Karnival. The rooms are clean and a good size. And the bar and garden areas offer good spaces to relax and socialise. This hotel does not take children which is understandable given the quiet location that may not offer sufficient distractions for younger folk. Although smoking becomes less socially acceptable, as a smoker myself I have to record that all within the legal obligations, this hotel caters well for those who do still indulge. There are good smoking areas in the hotel grounds and most (if not all rooms) have a balcony with seating, where it is permitted to smoke. The ambiance created by the team makes this a real home from home for us - it feels like staying with family (that you get on with). Well done Daniel and the team - we will return soon!

Beautiful and cozy hotel to spend some days at the Bavarian Forest

After living several years in Asia, where kids can do whatever they want, we decided to spent Eastern in a kids friendly place and no be worry about the other guests. The hotel is very cozy and extremely kids friendly. This was the first time, I could let my son play without watching him every two seconds. Our room was perfect. My son had a very nice bed and we even had a changing table in the room. Our bedroom was also very good and big enough. The food was excellent. We arrived very late due the traffic but the kitchen kept some food for us and we had dinner even after the service finished. If you travel with infants, you dont need to take anything with you. The hotel has bibs, food for baby, cereal, tea, cups, baby chairs, spoons, stroller for inside, etc.

Reviewed By Peter BIn der Zehrermühle waren wir seit 2009 und inzwischen schon sehr häufig, als Zwischenstation bei langen Reisen oder als Hauptreiseziel bei Kurztrips ins Bayerische. Für uns kam eine Ferienwohnung in Betracht. Die entsprach unseren Bedürfnissen und Erwartungen. Hier konnten wir entspannen und zur Ruhe kommen. Die Eigentümer Jörg und Dirk konnten all unsere Wünsche erfüllen. Auch die zum Haus gehörende Gastronomie war für uns immer ein voller Genuss. Ob nun die klassische Variante des Schnitzels Wiener Art oder die erstklassigen Empanadas, alles war frisch und sehr lecker zubereitet. Immer wieder gern.

Marion & Detlef run a great place
Reviewed By JoelY55490Many might believe that this is just another small town family hotel, but it is not that. Marion & Detlef Bothmann are great hosts, and they run a very fine hotel in a small town, Schonberg, in the Bayerischen Wald. We were very pleasantly surprised to find upon our very late arrival, both owners were still working their bar, and we didn't have to ring the night bell. We were warmly welcomed, and given tourist packs with many brochures concerning things to do in the area, and informed of the features of the hotel. We had come to go walking in the forests and mountainous country side, and were able to do that very easily. There are a lot of things to do in the are, and it's very easy to spend an entire week relaxing and touring around this lovely part of Germany. The hotel is a very well kept up structure right in the center of Schonberg. The building is not new, but it has been recently refurbished and looked after with loving care. You can pull into the courtyard to unload your luggage, and then drive around the small block to the large parking area. Do not park in front of the hotel without the proper credentials, or you will be ticketed. There are time limits on the limited parking spaces. Well done by the city and the integrity of the city center is well preserved by no excess parking. There is a very nice patio area in front of the hotel where you can sit and eat and drink, and of course they have a very nice dining room with outstanding food. Don't miss it. The breakfast is buffet style, and everything is there that you would expect and want in a good buffet. The room that we had was of a good size, and had a table with two chairs as well as two more comfortable sitting chairs, a feature that many smaller hotels seem to forget that one needs during rainy or snowy days after skiing. Our room had good lighting, very clean, and the windows were all of the new double paned insulated type, worked perfectly. For me, I was very happy to find the radiators responded almost immediately when turned them on to take the chill off of cool April nights. Bathroom was super clean, dazzling white, and there was space enough to hang up and lay out all of the clothing from our cases. The hotel also provides a computer for the use of guests, and free WiFi. They also have a cute convertible sports car that can be rented at a very reasonable price.
