When I was a small kid in the late 1970's, spending my vacations in São Leopoldo, people used to say that there weren't any outstanding BBQ restaurants around because gaúchos (the natives of Rio Grande do Sul) usually make their barbecues at home, so the demand just wasn't there. Now, more than three decades later, I have to admit this is just as true now as its was then - Schneider is supposed to be the best BBQ place, not only in São Leopoldo but in the whole greater Porto Alegre area. It is not. Mediocre meat cuts, an average but bland salad bar and lackluster service are the fare here. Prices are reasonable for the region, and a lot cheaper than in São Paulo and Rio (where you'll find the best meat in Brazil today), but the connoisseur will be disappointed.

This place despite its name has little to do with Zimbabwe or Africa at that, well save for the décor which is itself an eclectic mix of cultural art(ifacts). That said, this does not detract away from the lovely food and the friendly atmosphere.
The pizzas were great, the beer was ice cold and the service was great. The waiters were attentive and did not make use feel bad when we lingered a bit long after closing.
Try it out, it's worth it. Just don't be deceived by the name in terms of what is on offer from a culinary point of view, mainly Brazilian and European fanfare.

I recommend to have lunch on this place during the week.
Price is quite expensive for the region but also the quality is higher compared to the other restaurants in the same region.
A lot of kind of beefs and pastas also a good salad variety.
Tip, if you go with large groups, call before going to reserve a big table as the space is a little bit limited.

This restaurant offers the best barbecued meat in the town.
Buffet is ok, service is friendly but becoming tired. I know waiters there for tens of years, they're always friendly and kind but seems to me they were more engaged to service before.
The same looks in all aspects of the place. Yet the meat, for now is still unbeatable.

Very Good restaurant in Sao Leopoldo.
Hard to believe that a small city like Sao Leopoldo has a fancy restaurant like this one. The restaurant is installed in a home, quite discrete and sober.
Very refined menu and good service.
The wine selection could be a little more wide.
Prices are fair but be prepared to wait for your meal. Last two times took me over one hour to receive the plates.

Estive em um almoço de negócios. O ambiente tem decoração que lembra os imigrantes. O atendimento é atencioso. A comida é deliciosa. Tanto as opções do rodízio, quanto as saladas e algumas opções do buffet. Sem falar nas opções de sobremesa que merecem que se guarde um espacinho no estômago para degustá-las.

This review is related to the lunch (all you can eat) which is served during the day. Confraria is opened also for dinner with a different approach and big parties at night, mainly on the weekends.
I like to have lunch in Confraria during the week, it has a reasonable price, food is good and great desserts. They serve pasta everyday and you can choose the items, tops and kind of pasta and the lady will make it in front of you.
