If you're looking for good food in a nice ambiente, look no further than Mata Rosada. Prices are still reasonable, having paid 630 pesos or 13 dollars for a whole fish and two juices. The fish was delicious, portion was large, spices were to the point.

I've been twice thus far, once just for drinks, and the other for dinner. Staff is friendly and service is good. The food was really good. Nice outside eating area. They don't have a menu per se, just a special board - I'm waiting for them to change lol. I will return

The restaurant is part of Vista Mare condo where we stayed. Ate 2-3 meals per day here for 8 days and didn't get tired of it. Great service, meals well prepared and tasty. Reasonable prices. Our recommendation for dinner: start with Carpaccio Camarones. Entree of the Dorado. Finish with pineapple flambe.

We booked a Beach Day (11a.m. - 3 p.m.) with Lunch here when our cruise ship visited on Nov. 22. Our party consisted of my husband, daughters, sons-in-law and granddaughter (toddler). The booking was accomplished easily on the internet and we received a confirmation by e-mail. We arrived at the pier early (tendered), but were accomodated as we waited for transportation (by truck, not boat). Everyone was very welcoming and the areas were shown to us (beach, restaurant, showers, bar, etc.). Everything was as good or better as pictured in the website and very clean. There were only a few others there besides ourselves. The beach was clean and only slightly rocky--we soon found the sweet spot of the beach and spent all but lunch time in the water or on the sand! It was picturesque with lots of trees and plants and lawn. We had lunch at the restaurant (no buffet due to few folks), but we were allotted 3 appetizers, 6 entrees and 3 desserts for our party of six--as well as the 12 drink tickets. The food was wonderful and plentiful (except for chicken tenders--not wonderful)! We especially enjoyed the calimari, eggplant roll-ups, yucca fries and fish (whole) Samana style. The sandwiches were good also. I highly recommend this to cruisers who wish a pleasant day with water, sand, and food, and if we should return to Samana, we would almost surely rebook this day. We saw that some people had massages and hair braiding, but we did not inquire since that was not of interest to us. Our transport back to the ship was on a smaller truck, but was timely, leaving as soon as we had changed at about 3 p.m. Giovanni met us and stayed in the area (very good English), but we would have probably been able to communicate effectively, since everyone spoke enough English. Very relaxing day -- pleasant place, good food, and a great day for all of us!

Located at the end of the main strip of commercial buildings along the harbor, Taberna Mediterranea has a really good selection of options along a great variety of food types and price ranges. This place is far more reasonably priced if you are looking for pizza. However, if you are looking for seafood or meat options as we were, do expect to spend a bit more. This wouldn't be considered an "inexpensive" restaurant. It seems that the meal to eat in Santa Barbara de Samana is coconut fish or fish in coconut sauce. Two of us order that here with the fillet. We probably should have gone for the whole fish option as the fillet of mahi mahi was a bit tough. But the sauce was really good. The shrimp was really good!
The service was very good and attentive. There was music playing but it wasn't loud enough to be annoying as is often the case in some bars and restaurants.
I would probably go back but there is a large enough selection of restaurants in town that I would probably want to try out other options as this was on the high end of prices.

We were looking for a snack when returning from Playa Rincon. The Cafe bar is located directly at street along the bay (pass all the round abouts to get there). On a recent tour from the port city of Samana, Dominican Republic, we stopped at this restaurant for a late lunch. We ordered pizza and it was amazing. There is inside and outside Seating for guests. Who could ask for a better view while dining!
The service was very good and waiters were prompt in checking if we needed anything else.
A great way to end a day of touring.

I visit many times a week. Good basic breakfast. "kabob" Sandwich is pretty darn good, burger isn't too bad either. Service is always friendly and good. Nice view of the marina. Shaded areas w fans outside and fans inside. Lots of regulars to talk with and the owner is almost always there and is very friendly.

Surely one of the best restaurant views anywhere and certainly in the DR. Food superb: Had Fish Carpaccio, Lionfish with fried rice/veg, Creme Brulee, Espresso. Two drinks. US$50 good value for the quality. They have almost finished repairs following the hurricane and the restaurant and grounds look great. Until the new signage goes in the may help find it.
DIRECTIONS
Difficult to find, these directions may help. Do not trust either MAPS.ME or Google Maps to guide you, they are quite wrong. LEAVING Las Galeras centre on the main road. At c.KM6 there is a Cemetery on the left (look for the long green wall). Turn next left, just a bit further on. This is where there in a big sign saying ''Samana Ocean View Eco-Lodge". Also a very small white-on-green road-sign "LA GAUZAMA". Now take the 3rd right. Soon after there is a fork in the dirt road, go right. Follow right to the end. Ask if not sure, the locals know it well.
It's steep. SUV is fine, only a brave person would try in a saloon. I doubt it would work.

Sol y Luna is a great place to go for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just for drinks. Breakfast is served on the lower part of the building in a small area while lunch and dinner are served in the top dining room overlooking the ocean. Definitely worth to show up before sunset to take pictures of the well manicured grounds and enjoy breathtaking views of the ocean.
The menu has a little bit of everything, soups, salads, appetizers, fish, shellfish, chicken, pork, beef, and pastas. The service is friendly and I am amazed by Delphine and Jerome who have in a short time, learned English and Spanish well enough to converse with patrons. It would be a good idea to make a reservation if you plan to go.
