We visited here for lunch. We ordered 2 sandwiches which took 35 minutes to arrive . It would have been nice if at some point apology for the delay or an explanation. My hubby enjoyed his sausage Sandwich I had a salmon bagel lots of salmon burnt bagel and the salad was covered in olives and a smell too. Olives are not to everyone's taste and not something I would put on a salad would have been ok without it. The staff didn't seem to communicate well so tables were being ignored others being served and people helping themselves to tables . It was half term so maybe not as much staff . Cakes looked very nice however didn't purchase them

Been to the Eight Bells on a couple of occasions and have been very happy. The menu is seasonal and varied, and would be at home in any three-star restaurant. Add that to the original wood beams and architecture (mind your head on the way in) and you have a winner.

This little gem is located in the quaint and petite village of Newport in the heart of Essex.
The interior is deceptively small however there is space (mostly utilised in Sunday’s) for almost 70 diners so do not be put off by the initial lack of space.
Inside; the coach and horses is plain. Wooden beams sprout from the walls and a huge fireplace crackles delightfully. The owner is a pleasant man and the first impressions were genuinely excellent.
We ordered some food. In addition to a great menu hosting traditional favourites there is a blackboard with a wonderful array of appetising specials. It is not difficult to see why this pub only accepts bookings for Sunday lunch. The quality of the food is such that i can totally imagine all 70 is so spaces being occupied by hungry diners and a healthy queue of eager and hungry people waiting for a seat.
The food we ordered was delicious, not at all formulaic, fresh and beautifully delivered. Even the children’s meal was beautiful and fresh.
It was a really pleasant experience and we shall definitely return.

I went here with my family for my 50th birthday celebration, the food was delicious recommend the butterfly prawns and The Chicken in mushroom sauce with roasted vegetables...the limoncello was delicious, and the staff were Efficient and friendly. Many thanks for a lovely evening.

We came for Sunday lunch today, which we booked last week and were really looking forward to a meal out with family and friends. We were not disappointed, the staff were attentive and really friendly, the menu was spot on and the food really good. I had the roast beef, cooked to perfection with tasty veg and a yummy Yorkshire pudding. The chocolate brownie for pudding was amazing. This pub is what village pubs should be like. We all loved this pub - thank you for a super Sunday lunch.

Great little tea room with a nice decor and atmosphere. The homemade cakes are amazing we got two slices and shared. The lemon and blueberry three tiered was my favourite but my boyfriend liked the salted Carmel, chocolate and honeycomb. Great selections of tea.

This was the first time we’d been here and we were impressed by the quality of food and the friendliness of the staff. It was a function for about 50 people with pre-ordered dishes from a varied menu (as well as the normal turkey).
