Staggering beauty and heart-pumping thrills await in the resort town of Queenstown, which is also known for its Hobbits—much of the Lord of the Rings trilogy was filmed in the area. Outdoor enthusiasts flock to Queenstown for the kayaking, bungee jumping, jetboating, white-water rafting, hiking and skiing. More mild-mannered adventurers can take a quiet cruise through nearby Milford Sound, part of the Fjordland National Park World Heritage area, or sample South Island pinot noir from one of the region's 75 wineries.

This was a great find! We had a road side studio (so no real view) but it was perfect. Didn’t notice the road noise. Well appointed bathroom and room in general. Kitchen was in a cupboard but very functional for what we needed. Free parking on site was a bonus and it was only a 10 minute walk to town. Staff were super friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay here again. Only trouble was the number of stairs!

Luxury Queenstown apartments - right on the water front. Two minute level walking distance to Queenstown Central.
Not a good start to the holiday arrived to a very unwelcoming man at front desk. Upon entering apartment we needed to open door for fresh air. It was very shabby and bedrooms were down a very narrow stair way (maybe our fault for not realizing it was two story) after asking for an upgrade which was declined even though site says you can - and no they were not fully booked. I will let photo say the rest.

I am not usually one to write a bad review but I can’t pass on this one. Positives - location to walk to town and a hot shower. That’s it. Arrived at the hotel to see a closed sign telling us to walk up the road to the next hotel to book in. The person behind the counter was very arrogant and rude, he had someone on the phone on speaker while he scanned our ID and charged us $150 bond for one night. He made it clear that if one tiny thing was out of order he would keep the bond money, even if the neighbours said there was any noise from our room. We got pointed to the room, had nowhere to park and had to walk up three flights of steep concrete stairs to get to our three bedroom apartment. Once inside we wanted a coffee, low and behold, no milk. The apartment was run down, dirty and not serviced well. We opened the two drawers where the cutlery would usually be kept and it was full of building supplies. The sink in the bathroom downstairs did not plug. And when you opened the bathroom window there was a used condom and wrapper right in front of you. When told about this the hotel said “okay we will remove it” The outside “balcony” was so dirty, all the chairs were covered in weeks worth of dust/leaves. I am guttered that this hotel has been let go like this. A change of attitude, staff and a renovation should do the trick .

We stayed in an executive 1 bedroom apartment on the second floor. The location truly is great and the apartment itself made for a very comfortable stay for 2 adults and a 6yo. Very spacious rooms and quality furnishings, plus great storage in the master for luggage. Comfy beds and quality bedding. Effective heating but noticed no air con (not that we needed it). Good view of the mountains and gondola. We started most of our days with a short walk to the playground and coffee from the cafe on the lake front. A little attention to detail would make this a 5 star review. Walls and doors need a good clean to remove marks and fingerprints. It was really awkward preparing meals due to lack of basic bowls, limited cutlery and blunt knives. However with a location like this you should probably plan to enjoy all the eateries as you are spoilt for choice. Lounge tv was fuzzy but bedroom tv was fine. Wifi kept dropping out. However many people could look past most of these and still have an enjoyable stay - we just made do. Didn’t notice any smells mentioned from other reviews. Parking was tricky to get if you arrived back late in the evening but we only had to park on the street once overnight.

Wow! John and the team at, 'The Waterfront' have an AMAZING property, that sits right 'smack bang', in the heart of Queenstown; one of New Zealand's most magnificent and iconic tourist destinations! From our first contact with them, the whole experience was first class. We decided early on, to forego the usual 'hotel' stay, and instead go with a boutique style fully contained apartment. The views from our two bed, two bathroom (4th floor) apartment was truly stunning! The kitchen was well stoked, and also had a dishwasher, toaster, and a microwave. Even though we had a fully stocked kitchen, we ate out everyday. But the choice to stay IN and cook, was great to have. Vogel's toast in the morning with our Nespresso coffee (machine came with us as airplane carry on luggage) was the only "cooking" we did. We with 100%, most certainly come back and stay longer in a Penthouse Suite. Thanks Again to John and the wonderful crew! Marcus
