We came here tonight, our first night in Montreal. We realized we were on to something by all of the locals lined up right outside the door. No worries though, the line moves quickly. So many wood oven pizzas to choose from.! Top marks. The Tartufo pizza with anchovy paste and goat cheese is to die for, with the Pizza Pazza a close second. What made it most fun though was the attentive staff. Despite how busy they were, we noticed everyone getting the same detailed attention. A regional wine selection with good taste for good value. And then, the icing on the cake. For some reason, the tables on either side of us had glassware challenges this night, with broken glass and flying coke and wine everywhere. Next thing you know , the staff served us a complimentary dessert, and then lemoncello to round it all out. They didn't have to do that . Class all the way. Highly reccomended!Hi Steven, thank you for visiting us on your recent travel to Montreal and for taking your time to leave us a 5⭐️ review! We are thrilled that the Il Focolaio experience was enjoyed! Our mission is for our clients feel as if they are at our home being served, we are so glad that our warm and genuine hospitality was felt! It would be a pleasure to serve you again on your next visit to Montreal .

My friends and I discovered this restaurant while wandering around Old Montreal. The sign inviting customers to build their own pizza caught our eye. There are many choices for ingredients and it was too hard to decide so we opted for their menu. I had the Bros pizza. It looked too pretty to eat, but I did and it was really good. My friends enjoyed their pizzas as well. I like that I was able to finish this individual pizza without feeling overstuffed. These pizzas are nothing like the ones offered by restaurant chains. They are more artisanal type pizzas, as appealing to the eye as to the stomach.

There is nothing very bad about this place.. but the sum of its many pieces make it an average restaurant, at best. This place serves wood-oven pizza. It also has a selection of about 8 appetizers (typical italian options) and a couple of pasta dishes.Let's start with the food. There are about 15 pizza options on the menu. They are somewhat varied in terms of sauce (some with tomato sauce, some without) and ingredients (from all-meat to vegetarian), but end up being rather similar at the end. You cannot make your own selection of ingredients, unfortunately. The size of the pizza is a good one, plenty to feed one person. My wife and I shared one and had enough, considering we also ordered starters to share. As for the appetizers, the place offers polpettes (veal balls), calamari, burrata, arrancini and cold cuts.We tried :- the polpettes: they were good, but small and the tomato sauce accompanying them was very thick and salty- calamari: not too chewy, well tenderized- burrata: not very good. It was very cold, so the gooey factor was gone, as the cheese had hardened. For the price of the pizza (from $16 to $25)... it's a bit overpriced compared to the market. Considering I can get a "build my own pizza and put everything I want on it" for $14 at "Brigade restaurant" in the heart of downtown (higher rent and usually, higher prices)...I feel I didn't have my money's worth at this place. Both use the exact same oven and are sit-down restaurants. As for the service, there was some lacks from the get-go. When we mentioned we were going to share all the plates between the four of us, the waitress should have mentioned that the polpettes came in three... and offer us to add a fourth one, so we could all have one. Basic mistake. Later on, it took about 45 minutes for our pizzas to arrive once our starters were done. Considering we had to leave the table for a given time (set on us by the restaurant)... we were kind of feeling rushed to eat our meal once we got the pizzas... even though it was this place's fault we got served so late.Would I go back... no.The service was not up to par and I can get a better bang for my buck elsewhere for the same experience.

Every plate was delicious. The other people I was with thought the same of their choices. Definitely Italian with a personal touch. My expresso was totally well prepared, which is very difficult outside of Italy. It's situated in the prettiest street of Longueuil. Very easy for Montrealers to find the way to get there.I recommend it very much and will be going back very soon.
