Some things very good (pork souvlaki brochette) some not great (beef). Good salads, BYOB which is nice, but didn't see a store next door. Service was just OK, waiter was really loud, and didn't understand much English. And the SCREAMING baby at the next table was really bothersome, but it's not the restaurant's fault, it's the parents, who seemed content to ignore the baby and let him ruin other people's meals.

We do like this restaurant. The waitstaff are great; professional and speedy service. We like the food and the prices are not bad. We ate there recently and I saw things about the salad bar and how other people in the restaurant use it, that gave me pause. First of all having a salad bar with two soups that is all you can eat is a good thing. Touching things that other people touch, not such a good thing. Some people do not close the lid on the soups. Okay. Nothing in the salad bar has a roof or guard over it as you see in the US. I saw one man take a ladle of salad dressing and put it right up in his nose so he could check out what kind it was (the dressing are not marked but come on....you are not at home!). Then a boy came and took a serving spoon of a food he did not recognize and he put the serving spoon up in his mouth. Both the man and the boy returned these serving pieces into the dressing and food. If you take a bowl of something and eat from it....the waiter clears that away from your table and you should take a clean bowl the next time. We saw people taking the bowls from their table and going back to the salad bar where the serving pieces now touched their used bowls and those serving pieces went back in the food. All this is pretty gross and can be a serious risk factor. Too much risk for me frankly as I have a compromised immune system but we should all be careful about spreading germs. The restaurant should post signs...regarding take a clean bowl....do not eat from serving utensils..or the restaurant will add a charge for having to replace the food......I know it seems silly to have to tell people these things but I guess you do!!! They should also have someone near the salad bar watching and if food becomes contaminated...they should remove it. On another note....there had been some changes to the menu etc. since we were last there. The potato wedges are quite large....so a good sized portion. They no longer serve carrots etc with the meal so I ordered the skewer of grilled vegetables. They were horrible. Tons of oil and they tasted like sterno...whatever type of grill they were cooked on left a bad taste. The steak Casa Greque was still delicious.

We grew up going here all the way back when it opened.Last 20 years it has gone way down in food quality, food preparation and overall cleanliness of the place. Inside and out.Wait staff and management seem nonchalant about customers and cleanliness. We will not go back as frankly, we are not convinced the kitchen itself is up to part.

Recently went here for a pair of family Birthday celebrations. Menu hasn't changed much since our last visit with the exception of the addition of a New York Strip Steak. We tried it as well as the Hamburger Steak. I must say the hamburger steak was better than the New York Strip. It might have been just two bad cuts but there was a lot of gristle in both steaks. The service was ok, nothing special. The prices are OK, a tad high for what you get.

I have been coming to this restaurant at least three to four times a year. It is a great place for Greek Food. The sea bass is so delicious served with their lemon potatoes and rice. Greek salad is lovely too. They have grilled or fried vegetables. The also serve the traditional Greek dishes of chicken or beef souvlaki. This restaurant is a great place for big groups and for people that like to share dishes. It is a higher end Greek restaurant with prices that are more expensive than the fast food Greek places. Although its prices, it is a restaurant I love to come to with family and friends.Hi,Thank you for your amazing review! We are happy to know you love our sea bass, potatoes and salad. Thank you for being a loyal customer and for coming back so often with family and friends! We really appreciate it all your wonderful comments! Hope to see you again soon!

Marathon Souvlaki

Reviewed By Baylam

We were 8 people who were celebrating 2 birthdays last night at Marathon’s in DDO. I brought in my own birthday cake to serve later on after dinner. Service was fast and efficient, as usual. We ordered a few appetizers which came in a timely fashion which we ate with their yummy garlic bread. Their saganaki is a MUST! Basically, it’s some sort of Greek cheese which is breaded and fried and served with lemon wedges....to die for! We also ordered kapanisti, a thick, spicy red pepper dip, also delish. Meals ranged from chicken pita platters to doner pita platters and souvlaki stick platters, all served with fries and salad. After the meal, our waiter brought out the birthday cake and after we sang to the birthday people and they blew out the candles, our waiter took the cake away and sliced it up and served it to us. There was no charge for this service. Marathons’s...always delicious and always good value.
