Puerto Varas Bed and Breakfast Inns | Places to Stay in Puerto Varas

May 5, 2023 Dorsey Hagwood

Explore lovely, compact Puerto Varas on foot, the best way to take in views of Osorno Volcano and the wooden colonial homes built by German immigrants in the early 1900s. Several are designated as national monuments. Located on the shores of Lago Llanquihue, Chile's second-largest lake, the village is the low-key antidote to the Lake District metropolis of Puerto Montt and serves as a jumping off point for fly-fishing, whitewater rafting, horseback riding and sea kayaking excursions.

Amazing host and hospitality

Reviewed By jasonsF1530HJ

After arriving late in PV we were looking to get a room. Our first two that we tried to book were given away to other people that showed up even after we confirmed so by the time we knew it was around midnight. We called Rudolfo and he surprisingly answered his phone and was more than welcome to take us in to his hostile. We got situated and had a good nights rest. The next evening we had a very intelligent conversation with him as he speaks three languages fluently and he made us a great breakfast in the morning. Very welcoming to anyone that comes his way at any time of day. I highly recommend using his services and the nightly rate is more than reasonable. The house is also closely located to the lakefront walk that leads into downtown.

Great staff and cozy rooms at this budget option a 10 minute walk from the center. Beds are super comfortable and there is plenty of hot water in the shower. Breakfast was a bit thin but if you can subsist on powdered eggs and toast, you should be ok.

Worst experience ever...

Reviewed By Pablo M

We booked this place through a friend. Upon arrival the place was closed, and there was(what it seemed to be) a friend of the owners, who were on holidays. No wifi, no heating (the owners decided to turn the boiler off because we were the only ones!! It was late so we decided to give it chance anyway, bad decision.. night was really really cold. Since there was no one around, it seems that the owners decided to leave the dogs looking after the property, barking non-stop. For breakfast, they left us (literally) FROZEN cheese and ham in a fridge in common area, and an industrial-size toaster. On the top of it, there was no hot water, so no shower. Our booking was for 3 nights but we decided to leave because the person in charge (who was not in the property at that time) didn't know how to fix the hot water problem. To my surprise, the owners charged us the 3 nights. After complaining several times for the 2 extra nights (although a horrible experience, we did spend the first night there), they came back to me arguing that you just left with no explanation... There was no one there... and NOT SURE WHAT ELSE DID THEY EXPECT US TO DO, with no heating, no hot water and a frozen breakfast. It's been 5 months already and still haven't seen my money back. I told the owners that I would respectfully wait a few months (I was expecting them to reconsider their decision) before posting this comment here.

Great Place - Great Location

Reviewed By David O

This place is a gem. The rooms are spacious, luxurious and recently redecorated. Breakfast was included and was excellent! Cake, fruit, eggs every morning. Anita and Urwin were gracious hosts and were attentive to details via email. They printed out maps for us with larger print and were always trying to be helpful. They made reservations for us one night at a local restaurant. The wifi is excellent - I was able to have a 45 minute video conference without any problem. The place is just about across from the beach and in a quiet neighborhood. Parking is free and is off street behind a gate. Yes it is a little bit from the center of town but taxis are plentiful and you can catch one here for $3000 pesos. There are several restaurants nearby just a 5 to 10 minute walk away.It is also a very beautiful walk into town right along the beach. If you want to be near the center but have quiet and a beach view this is the place for you!

And Puerto Varas is a pretty lakeside town with very good restaurants and friendly folks. Mala experiencia
