The restaurant is renowned throughout the area since 1962, has rich traditional specialties of antipasti, pasta, meat, cakes all done expertly at home, accompanied by local wines DOC and DOCG.The Pinewood restaurant includes outdoor dining areas. We look f

Michelin guides this as simple standard good cooking - if you are not a "Michelin starred only" type foodie you will find this perfect cooking. Located a few steps walk away from the crowded town center on a peaceful side street, have both outside and inside seating, a small restaurant, probably family run. Good and timely service. Very good variety of wine and sufficient food chioces. Strangozzi and tagliatella are perfect, make sure you taste both if you can. Bistecca was also very good and cooked as asked. We also had rabbit, found it surprisingly perfect, very tender and tasty cooked and served in a delicious sauce. Desserts just fine, nothing spectacular. A must go when you are in Assisi - lovely town by the way, so simply don't miss this.

Our family style restaurant, with its blackened stone walls from the hearth, serves delicious traditional Umbrian food. Enjoy a variety of dishes from the wood-fired grill or the many other entrees available. Closed on Wednesday.
The enviroment is very cosy amd quiet, tha place is simple and rather unassuming. Very nice place. The food is pretty good, specially meat. Lots of typical Umbrian dishes, bruschette, pasta, everything is based on local tradition.Don't expect a proper restaurant, you won't be served by any waiter, you have to set the table and bring the dishes by yourself.Very authentic restaurant and good food.Honest prices.

Un ristorante storico elegante ma sportivo che permette servizi di alta qualità in un'ambientazione di pregio, mantendendo un rapporto con i Nostri amici, professionalmente confidenziale.
Five of us had dinner here, and it was a nice experience. The restaurant is in an historic building. Spacing between tables is wide making for good conversation and low noise level. Our group split as to the entrees, with several people ordering the pappardelle with wild boar ragu, and others going with the roasted suckling pig. Both were good, but the pig was the favorite with moist meat and crispy skin.We were split again for desserts with some ordering the nougat semi-freddo, and others the dark chocolate brownie. Again, we shared and agreed all were very good and probably the best part of the dinner. The house wines were good and a great value. At the end of the night we agreed that it was a good dinner, but not the five star experience the reviews had us hoping for.

I really enjoyed the meal, true home cooking and a very welcoming atmosphere. The food was magnificent and the portions very generous. Also, the place has a fantastic view of the valley beneath it! After a long day of traveling, it's nice to know that you and your family will be welcomed into this fantastic little nook!

The restaurant Giovannino's is a famil-run restaurant, situated in the calm of the Umbrian hills 4 kms from Assisi. To reach the restaurant you can take the ss444 street to Ponte Grande. From "Porta Perlici" Assisi's door, you will be in restaurant in 5 m
Having booked into the local Casa Rosa with very short notice, we had not had time to shop for foo. Ristorante da Giovannino also has a limited mini market attached; At 19.40 we were the only people in the restaurant, so we weren't really too sure that they wanted us; however, over the next 30 mins or so several other tables were taken and we felt less conspicuous, The Service, (only one waitress) was perfectly fine and well paced; the food was also perfectly fine, and pretty much as one would expect from this type of family trattoria. A local pasta dish and a mixed grill also good; however WHY do so many places INSIST that you BUY water, rather than drinking tap water. They say it's undrinkable; utter nonsense & I think it's much safer than bottled water that has been in plastic bottles for up to a couple of years, leaching chemicals from the plastic!Hi.I would like to thank you for the review and to tell you that in Italy people usually dine at 8 pm so generally the restaurant, even if is open since 7:30 pm , starts to become full at 8/8:30 pm.I would also like to explain the water issue. We couldnât give you the tap water because the Italian law doesnât permit this.Serving tap water would mean to risk every time a mulct, so we can serve only water in bottle or tap water filtered with a special purifier. For this reason in Italian restaurants water isn't free.I hope to see you again.Fabio

La Cantina tries to reproduce the food of ancient Umbria - cucina povera, that is, the cuisine of the poor which is actually at the heart of much of the most inventive Italian cooking outside the big urban centres. You eat in a huge wine cellar (literally a cantina), surrounded by vast wooden wine barrels. Definitely start with the assagi di legumi - several different dishes of beans, lentils, ceci, cicerchie, farro and other Umbrian specialities. Among the primi go for the bigoli. For secondi there are the usual rural meat dishes, several cooked over ash from the roaring open fire, but also interesting cooked cheese dishes for vegetarians. Virtually everything you will eat and drink, apart from the coffee, will have been grown or killed on the restaurant's territory. An experience rather than a meal.
