Had a surprisingly great meal at Foleys this week. We were slightly worried sitting down as the restaurant was still quite empty at 6.30pm but nothing to worry about as the food was really very good. Had the John Dory which was excellent, came with lots of vegetables (carrots amazing) and my husband had an enormous piece of plaice, almost didn't fit on the plate. Would return when in Killarney for sure. Didn't get a chance to stay for dessert but overheard another patron praising hers to the waitress. Staff also just lovely.....but so is everyone in Killarney!

The seafood is good here but not worth the prices. They were out of prawn and crab that night which was a lot of the dishes. We had a rather abrupt woman taking our order. She had a scowl, seemed very distracted and asked for food choices before asking about drinks. We were a big group so When some asked if they could order a drink first she didnât respond and kept taking food selections so all the drinks came basically when the food came. Turns out she is the owner! I recommend she stays in the background and let her staff deal with public as they were much more friendly and service oriented. At those prices, youâd expect more. Very disappointed!

Time to drool and ponder. For the avid fish lover then Quinlans The Mad Monk is definitely the place to dine. I would strongly advise booking. As a busy, buzzy spot. Decor tastefully done. Copious seating both up and downstairs. Child friendly too.I opted for Scallops as my starter. The best I have tasted in a very long time.My darling opted for Thai Fish cakes, a good balance of potato and fish. Dermot and I chose the Proper Scampi. It matched up to its description. Exquisite.The Mad Monk is the best fish restaurant in Killarney. Such an asset too. Cannot wait to return again. Beautiful premises. Excellent team. Location perfect.Book first. Enjoy. Bravo. We found this restaurant through tripadvisor. The place was packed on this Thursday evening, but we three didn't have to wait too long. We had fish goujons, haddock & chips, and fish cakes plus onion rings. Service was quick and food came out in a timely manner. We had a beautiful dinner and it's very delicious. We have nature oysters and mussels for starter. Then ordered the Salmon and Lamb for main course, last is dessert, Pavlova. All dishes were cooked so good, price is reasonable. Satisfied with the dinner and highly recommended.
