The cook is a real character.Tuscan style.Withdrawn, yet smiling.Proud of his work and his restaurant, hiding somewhere up the hills of Vicchio.A small lake below.Charming.As is the cooking.Real meat, meaning fresh and well chosen.Spaghetti al dente, which means they are not served like mashed potatoes, but are boiled to perfection. There is outdoor seating. You can smoke ,but you won t .The taste of good local wine, the taste of fresh vegetables should not be tainted with tar.The prices are modest, almost cheap in relation to the quality of food. The guests are mainly Italians, people who know of good home cooking, just like nonna(which is the grandmother every Italian loves)

La Colombaia is a family run agricultural farm, it is located in the picturesque countryside of Vicchio in the province of Florence. The activity began in 1977, and is managed by Claudio Galluzzi. It has been certified as organic farming by the ICEA since
We had a very nice lunch. Crostone with fused pecorino, sausages, peposo all accompanied with local wine. The service was a little slow but it is fine if you want to enjoy a relaxing day. The waiters and waitresses are all very nice and expert. The surroundings are astonishing I recommend this place.

Un casolare nel cuore delle colline Toscane, dove poter staccare la spina e rilassarsi davanti ad un buon piatto e un calice di vino.
Excellent restaurant, full of locals enjoying the food , location and views. I had the beef with truffle which is amongst the best ânon Michelin â food Iâve eaten. Family had pizza which was excellent, my sons pizza Margarita was delicious. Book in advance as it was totally full when we went. Wish we had visited more than once during our stay.

We have bypassed this restaurant for quite some time as it's adjacent to a noisy wine bar in the town square and the outside tables abut each other which means rowdy tables and cigarette smoke. However we went on a whim on a week night and ate inside. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and tables are laid with linen tablecloths and napkins. The service was attentive and the menu a little different from the norm. If you like meat then this is for you. We had the salumi starter which was excellent as was the little lardo amuse bouche. We had the duck with prunes and onions as a main course which was good but weren't prompted to order vegetables unfortunately. A bit pricier than other local restaurants but worth a visit.

It's definitely worth making a reservation to eat here--otherwise, you will be disappointed..The restaurant itself is very small, and the kitchen is only open for lunch--they may serve hot food until 7? (didn't stick around to check)..there is no written menu (except on a blackboard), and the menu changes daily...The food was delicious and different..I had wonderful "strangle-the-priest" pasta--a very different style than I've had before--and wonderful! The 1/2 chicken was moist and tender, my husband's roast pork was delicious, and my dessert "bis" (I couldn't make up my mind!) was delicious as well...the fried zucchini flowers were amazing..Would I go back? Of course!

We visited this restaurant during the "Hot Days" fest....Since it was cool outside, we ate inside at a table overlooking the hills. The cuisine here was different than the usual Italian fare...For example, the mushroom soup contained very little liquid--very tasty, but different. The tagliolini with the Mugello black truffles was delicious, as were the meatballs served with caramelised onions...a good meld of flavours..The pappardelle with boar sauce contained very little sauce, mostly boar meat, but was again very tasty. The tagliata with mozzarella was delicious as well. The restaurant sits in the centre of town, and one can easily explore the "shopping" street. Parking is not normally difficult--even during a fest! Most of the diners that evening were locals, and were warmly welcomed by the staff, which was very efficient as well as friendly.

Had a great Bistecca Florentina at Alberto! The meat was amazing!!! All organic and from local farmers! Make sure to have the tartare as a starter and end with a Zuppa Inglesa!!! Best restaurant in this area! Great value and an excellent selection of wines!!!!

On our way from Pisa Airport we were looking for somewhere to have lunch and this restaurant looked inviting. There were only a few other diners when we arrived. We were seated right away and given very extensive menus. We all chose to have a starter and a main course. Our waiter suggested a pasta dish which was like ravioli with ragut sauce and fish for mains. Both courses were scrumptious as well as a local red wine to accompany our meal. The bill was reasonable for such a delicious meal. We were staying locally for one week and decided one lunchtime to return to this restaurant. On this occasion, the waiter suggested that we try the mushrooms which had just been delivered. They were so tasty. again we had a bottle of local red wine which was very smooth. We were also given a taste of homemade bread with dips at no cost and on our way out the owner of the restaurant gave us some tips and booklets on local places of interest. A delightful meal in a rural setting.
