We were randomly exploring the area (actually hoping we were going to stumble on an open winery...but that aside), saw the sign and went inside. There was a visiting artist showing when we visited; it is a lovely venue for an art show. The slide show/presentation on Giotto told the story of his life and his art, it may have been a bit schmaltzy or simple for those that are familiar with the story: but it brought us up to speed!

We took the train up from Florence, looking for a real town atmosphere. Found exactly what we wanted in B. San Lorenzo. Pretty park with sycamores (as I remember) and at one end: perfect. A monument to a loyal dog, Fido. Great restaurants in Borgo San Lorenzo, too! We'll be back to pet Fido again.

My wife and I visited this winery during a separate tour. Our guide (after hours) was the incredibly knowledgeable cousin of the winemaker. While this is one piece of the family’s large wine portfolio, it truly is a family operation. The cellars under the castle...Morethank you so much for your feedback. The Adventure Park Il Gigante, a few steps from Florence, offers new rope courses every year, of progressive height and difficulty, which can be accessed with one only ticket. The staff is professional, young and friendly, and provide all safety instructions, help and equipment to enjoy the green. Our guests include adults, teens and children (3+). Our 10 and 8 year old loved this, and it was a great escape from the heat and bustle of Florence. Highly recommended.
To get there, go to piazza San Marco and buy your round trip bus tickets at the south end of the plaza (2.80 Euro each). Facing the ticket machine, walk (north) up the street on the right until just past the plaza. The bus arrives at thesign that says 25 on the right side of the street. Take the lovely, air conditioned bus to the last stop. (The bus driver goes on break so its pretty obvious). You are in a cul de sac. Walk across the grass at the end of the cul de sac between the apartment buildings about 50 meters and you will see a huge parking lot on your left down the hill. Walk down the hill to that parking lot and you will see the entrance on your right.

La Chiesa di Sant'Andrea di Barbiana fu edificata nel XIV secolo e consacrata nel 1568; non sembra distinguersi particolarmente dalle tante chiesette di campagna che popolano la terra toscana. All'interno di essa c'e' un pregevole crocifisso di legno e un'acquasantiera di marmo risalenti al XVI secolo, un tabernacolo di pietra del XV secolo e un affresco di scuola giottesca purtroppo deturpato dai rimaneggiamenti che la chiesa ha subito nel corso dei secoli. Di un certo interesse sono le vetrate a mosaico, in arte povera, realizzate dagli allievi di don Milani; fra queste il celebre "Santo Scolaro". Nel dicembre del 1954 Don Milani viene nominato priore: allora Barbiana era una localita' irraggiungibile da automezzi perché non vi era ancora la strada ed era abitata solo da cento contadini che resistevano all'esodo verso la citta'. Per la curia fiorentina, isolare don Lorenzo Milani era la giusta punizione da dare a un sacerdote che non amava le processioni, le feste, che privilegiava i piu' poveri e piu' umili e che aveva creato una scuola dove erano ammessi gli operai comunisti. Fu cosi' che don Lorenzo Milani giunse a Barbiana quel lunedi' del 6 dicembre 1954 e vi rimase fino alla morte, avvenuta il 26 giugno1967. Quei 7 chilometri tagliavano fuori dal mondo! Le lettere bisognava andarle a prendere a Vicchio. Ancora oggi, la stanza e il pergolato, nella quale e sotto il quale si svolgevano le lezioni, restano ancora la'.

Wonderful small museum setting in the historic home of the Chini family. Rooms full of ceramics and beautiful glass. Some of the rooms had fantastic murals to walls. Only 3€ to get in and receptionist Mirella extremely helpful and great English

This museum is at Mount Altuzzo, where units of the U.S. Fifth Army fought during World War II. It presents excellent exhibits of items found on local Battlefields, along with the stories of soldiers who fought there. Furthermore, the very dedicated and knowledgeable museum staff can help visitors find monuments, bunkers, and trenches on Mount Altuzzo.

We were offered a tour by one of the priest who went out of his way to provide us with a tour of this beautiful sanctuary. Worth a visit to marvel the views on a sunny day.

Stopped here briefly on our long journey down through Italy to Assisi. The chapel made me cry the atmosphere was so powerful. Beautiful views our over Tuscany too.
