Beautiful grounds with very basic rooms ruined by some of the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced
Reviewed By dgoldynThe grounds are beautiful. The pool and a Jacuzzi are very welcoming and once you get settled it’s very relaxing. However it’s too far from town and they need to offer a shuttle service to town The road to the hotel is not paved and guaranteed to screw up your rental car. Check-in was a nightmare as I had to wait for this horrible receptionist. She handed me a key and pointed to where the room was. This is a sprawling property with rooms all over the place. I stood outside for 10 minutes until somebody help me find the room Upon checking out, the same nightmare receptionist did it again! I asked her for transportation to town, and she pointed to a phone number on the wall that I was supposed to call. When I asked her to call for me she rolled her eyes. It’s not just the receptionist this place is just totally mismanaged which is a disgrace because it’s so beautiful. They hand you a list of one-sided rules favoring the hotel and not the customer. I just didn’t feel very welcome. That should be fair once I settled in it was very relaxing despite no towels at the pool, and a steam room that didn’t work.

A LITTLE PIECE OF PARADISE
Reviewed By Alex_Brazzo_88I came across this lovely finca while looking for a place to rest the body and soul from the frenziness of Medellin. I really couldn't ask for a better option! The place is located on the hills just south of the pueblo of El Penol, easilly reachable by bus but also far enough from the noise of the city. You can tell that the owners put a lot of love in their work, my room was spotlessly clean and nicely decorated and the food simply delicious. You can also enjoy the view of la piedra from a priviledged point of view, and is really astounding. I couldn't sleep in the dome as it was already taken by another couple and it looked awesome, but the owner Fabiano was already building a couple more so it will be for the next time. Super recommended!!

We have plenty of dorms and private cabins with spectacular views of the lake and the famous rock of Penol. We have a bar and restaurant with the deck looking over the lake. In the midst of Eucalyptus and Pine trees, surrounded by the lake waters, Bacoa waits for you!

Reviewed By jperezil193Absolute middle of nowhere, which was refreshing and quite an adventure to find/return to city. Alexis with reception is a gem! Provided food was adequate. Middle of nowhere so no reason to question security. Peaceful AF. Hostel dogs were friendly as well. I stayed on a Thursday and was literally the only guest at the hostel which made a very welcoming and down to earth atmosphere. Recommend taking a rickshaw to hostel. A bumpy ride to remember for life.

Reviewed By sfcddm1Everything inside the facilities is great! From great service provided by Jose to a steak cooked to perfection by the chef. The views are spectacular, the room was very spacious, the jacuzzis outside and in the room worked perfectly and had hot water. The pool area is just beautiful with the surrounding lake and mountains. The gardens were just beautiful, the whole place is beautiful! It is very well taken care of. We got to kayak around and it was a lot of fun! The room was beautiful! One star is deducted due to the way to get to the hotel, the last 6 kms were not on a paved road and it is bumpy. Recommend getting there either by boat or a large/high car or SUV. Also, it takes about 50 minutes to get to Guatape town and you can arrange a car with the front desk or a small boat to take you to the small town of Guatape. Once we were in the hotel, we didnt had the need to leave the hotel. It is a great place to disconnect from daily life and enjoy yourself with your loved one. And I almost forgot, this hotel is top less, so adults only! It is a very relaxing place! Enjoy!

Reviewed By fvlfvlEsta es una casa vieja, de la que alquilan cuartos. Si fuera un hotel, los closets estarían vacíos para uno poder poner su ropa, pero NO, están llenos de cosas de los propietarios!! Solo hay una pequeña parte de los closets disponibles. Uno se siente permanentemente vigilado por los dueños, que aunque son amables, están en permanencia en SU casa. No hay privacidad, uno NO se siente en un hotel, sino en una casa ajena. La cocina está llena de utiensilios viejos. Los baños tienen posajabones rotos, llaves sueltas. No había ventiladores en los cuartos. La decoración, por ser una casa en donde viven los dueños, es de ellos, y por ende la sensación de llegar a un casa ajena, no a un hotel. Fuimos con toda la familia, alguilamos todas las habitaciones, y nos llevamos la sorpresa de ver otras personas también desayunando y ocupando las hamacas; la respuesta era que también alquilaban otro apartamento pequeño.. En fin, no es un hotel, ni una casa que uno pueda disfrutar libremente.
