Peloponnese Lodges | Places to Stay in Peloponnese

April 28, 2023 Darleen Reid

The Peloponnese is a large peninsula on the southernmost part of mainland Greece. Its history dates back to the Bronze Age. Buses and rental cars provide the best options for seeing the region's sites, such as Mycenae's ancient theater, Sparta's Archaeological Museum and the ancient ruins of Mystras, Olympia, Mycenae, Corinth and Artemis Orthia. Held by the Turks and the Venetians until Greek independence in 1821, this center of ancient Greece is also justly famous for traditional Greek dancing.

Best hotel of our trip

Reviewed By PascalK949

We stayed in the hotel (five people) for two nights on our journey through Greece for the second time after having loved our stay here two years ago already; and we were not disappointed: The rooms are clean and have everything you want and need, the location is right at the marina with many great restaurants in front (but it's still relatively quiet – only the main street on the other side can get a little lively in the evening/morning), the reception is very warm (every guest gets a fresh orange juice for free – it's a beautiful tradition), there's a nice parking space in a lovely garden area a minute away, a very nice small beach with plenty of parasols and deck chairs (plus a bar) can be reached on foot in two minutes – probably the most important part! – and everyone there seems to be really nice and helpful. And what we actually came back for: The breakfast! It has everything we wanted – fresh orange juice en masse, nice warm dishes and delicious fruits. During the pandemic, you have to wear a mask and a glove, but the experience was definitely above-average nonetheless and I can't think of anything that really bothered me too much during our short stay! VERY fair pricings and the hotel deserves more stars without any doubt. We also visited the restaurant right in front of the hotel which was nearly empty when we arrived and we were positively surprised: The starters were all super tasty and my meal was one of the best I've had here – and that all for little money! I would return at any time... No matter how old or how big the group, this relatively small hotel has the ideal offer. I don't really understand the complaints because I enjoyed every second of our stay (especially because there were no mosquitoes and the Internet was great!); maybe having a big car can be an issue while parking, but even our mini-bus always managed to get by...

Very friendly and helpful, clean, central

Reviewed By mezaco

Centrally located in Nafplio, run by a very friendly and helpful man. Parking can be a bit tough, there are some spots nearby but you likely will need to park further away. Some rooms look to street but others look to walls of internal courtyard without too much daylight. Standard internal room was a bit cramped, not a lot of space for luggage....but the bathroom was big! Comes with fridge (which was stocked with water and beer, which was a nice touch!). Overall, a very friendly, clean, locally run little guesthouse in a good location.

Melies Hotel

Amazing wedding venue!

Reviewed By Streetsmart28

From the moment we stepped our feet at Melies in the summer of 2018, my then fiancé- now husband, and I knew we wanted to have our wedding reception here. Dimitri was amazing to work with throughout the winter, as he was quick to answer any calls and emails with questions and requests that I had in order to plan the big day from across the Atlantic. Our wedding day was magical! The staff at Melies did an exquisite job putting it all together. Our guests raved about the delicious three course meal, which was served promptly to all guests. The view from Melies is stunning! It is located on a hill where you can see modern day Sparta from above. Our guests enjoyed the food, views, excellent service, and luxurious suites, which resemble fortresses from another time period. I have only amazing things to say about our wedding day, the planning process, and the world class customer service we experienced. I can’t forget to mention, our guests also enjoyed the magnificent pool the day of our wedding and the next day! Some of our guests did island hopping and returned to Melies after the wedding to finish their vacation in Sparta, Greece. If I could give 10 STARS, I would!!! Thank you for making it amazing!

This hotel is one of the best in the area. It's very central, so you can easily go out in the evening and drink without worrying about driving, it's very close to the beach, and the facilities it offers are quite good for a 3-star accommodation. There might be some slightly nicer accommodations in the area but they are self-catering and the breakfast at Astros Beach Hotel is not bad. The mini suite was really nice. We will visit again.

Aegean View Villa

One of the best views ever

Reviewed By Daniel F

Stupendous panoramic views not only from the spacious balcony overlooking the Gulf of Corinth, but even from within, from the moment we entered the apartment. The two bedrooms were excellent, each equipped with sizable and comfortable good-sized modern beds. Though the day was sunny and warm, when we returned from eating out the temperature had dropped, but we were able to simply turn on the flame-effect electric fire before we retired for the evening and in no time at all we were warm and comfortable again. Since we were only staying one night, unfortunately we didn't have time to use the swimming pool and lounging/sunbathing area just below our balcony. Communication with the owner was easy and very attentive - Thanks, Aggeliki - especially as I had mistakenly made the initial appointment for only one couple, instead of two. But nothing was a problem. Altogether, a wonderful, modern, small private complex of apartments that we shall definitely stay in again - but for longer next time. Finding the place: The villa is the far side of Loutraki travelling from the Isthmus of Corinth. Just continue driving along the coast road and you will see the large sign for Aegean View Villas on your right, where you make the sharp turn into the entrance and proceed up the steep drive. Parking is at the rear.

Pasithea Mountain Chalet

A great place for a couple of days.

Reviewed By Jorgos D

We had our 43 years anniversary of our marriage. My wife's choice was Feneos. We booked Pasithea for three overnights. Her instinct proved perfect! Alexis, the owner, a brilliant businessman, was very hospitable. His assistant Vaggelis, as well. The rooms with a ready-to-burn fireplace, lay out of a 4* hotel. The main guest relaxing room where also breakfast was served, had an unbelievable view of the mountains around - all over 2.350 m high - and the fertile valley of Feneos. Breakfast served on personal trays, with a variety of local marmalades and honey. Cold not eat all... Before leaving, ask Vaggelis to bring you 1-2 kilos of the best giant beans in the world. We recommend this place for Winter and Summer, as well.

Faultless

Stayed here for 5 nights during a recent trip to the Peloponnese and could not fault The accommodation or breakfast. Rooms were modern and well equipped with everything you needed for a comfortable stay including a small kitchen area. There was a huge balcony with views of the the town and castle and the sea beyond. The bathroom was well equipped and the towels were changed daily. Everywhere was spotlessly clean, Obviously the accommodation is not in town but we chose it for that reason and easy parking in the outside grounds. It was an easy walk downhill into Nafplion and the uphill walk after eating out every night was good for us! Breakfast was prepared for us and loaded on trays so we could eat on the terrace outside ( which we did) or on the balcony in the rooms. The breakfast was the best we have ever had in Greece and was huge! There was a small skillet of bacon and eggs, fresh breads, croissants,a selection of small cakes, yogurt, fruits and a basket with pastries and a selection of cheeses and meats plus juice and coffee! We were supplied with a lid so we could take the pastries, cheese, meats and any left over cakes with us for lunch! We loved our stay at this accommodation and would stay again if we ever return to the area.

Ridiculous service and owner. BE CAREFUL! The whole thing is a total scam. On top of everything the owner is extremely racist, misogynist and mean. I have never encounter such behavior. Under any circumstances don't go to any of his hotels! Terrible experience!!! I booked a room, showed up, no one was there, no refund, and after numerous calls and a report to the police, I finally got my money back. In the last call, I had the owner screaming and swearing at me and never apologized! Not even once. He acted like a mafia and threatened me repeatedly! Just horrible and totally unprofessional!!! Never go there under any circumstances! Still cannot believe that he is allowed to have a license because I spoke to EOT and they told me he has so many fines. Someone should do something!
