Votsalo is a highly recomended greek tavern in Kouremenos Beach.There you can eat traditional Cretan dishes ,served from very kind and polite people.Prices are very afortable.The same time you can enjoy the famous Kouremenos beach.A dont miss spot in Eastern Crete.Perfect place for kids too.....Dont forget to ask the TRADITIONAL dishes....

Simple food, simple service, simple place - outdoor Terrace to see the beautiful mountain-sea landscape... but what matters is the tasty food. Not too much to select (normally rabbit, lamb, and something else). Tasty olive oil is done by the owner and you can buy it as well. Tasty tsikoudi is done by the neighbor. You can visit the tiny village above in 10 minutes while waiting the meal.

Arrived here after a day of travelling and could not have been greeted with a nicer manager (sorry I can not remember your name), so helpful and accommodating. Helped us book into Kato Zakros Palace Apartments just up the road. Went the extra mile to help us which he did not have to do. Food was amazing and when we asked for his recommendations on traditional Greek cuisine he said to leave with him and we received some of the nicest food we had eaten all week. I would recommend anything from the grill/bbq or clay oven as this is fresh, catch of the day meat and fish, instead of the frozen food they offer, which still is not bad, but fresh is better. overall a great little restaurant, and the fact this has been going since 1982 says it all!

Really traditional Cretan tavern. The food was delicious and environment was fantastic, decorated with traditional Cretan stuff. Service was efficient and friendly. Totally recommended. As I am originally from Sitia but living for the last years in the UK, I am really happy seeing some really great taverns in my hometown.

We visited this wonderful seafood taverna in June and have been before several times. We adore the setting, where your table overlooks the gorgeous blue sea, the waves softly touch the edge of the rocks and you can just dream at this seriously tranquil place. Well - the staff are all just so welcoming, speaking perfect English, and guiding you on what food to choose and what fish to have. We had the best conversations with Christos, Georgia, Niko, Kostas and Yiannis and want to thank all of them for their hospitality. We ate red mullet and dorado fish, both were delicious and served with potatoes or chips and salad. The spinach or greens pies and cheese pies are mouth wateringly good and many of the starters are typical of Greek cuisine and all so good. After our meal we were served with the most divine watermelon and raki. On another occasion we had some yoghourt topped with zest of lemon.... so simple but completely luscious. We drank the local wine which we find very good. This taverna is a place of serenity and great beauty. We cant wait to go back again and eat the great food and see the kind and open-hearted staff again. Cretan people are so special, with big hearts and caring attitudes. As for prices, you will pay more for fish, but we believe its worth it for the freshness and sweetness of its taste. Γιασασ Χριστοσ, Γεοργια, Κοστασ, Νικο, και Υιαννισ. Τι κανετε: Μιλαω λιγα Ελλγνικα, Όπως ξέρετε αλλα μαθενω καθε μερα. Τα λεμε !!!!! Ξεννι.

There wasn't a menu but the staff invited us to the kitchen. We could look around and picked up what we wanted. . The kitchen was clean and all food was fresh and cooked from scratch. It wasn't expensive as well. The owners should be very proud of their restaurant.

We received excellent service and recommended local specialities. The food, setting and wine were fantastic. Try the smoked eggplant salad, the baked feta and vegetables and the sardines. The homemade dips provided on the house were a nice touch.

Some days ago I visited Western Crete, along with my family. A relative of mine recomended this restaurant at the village of Palekastro, nearby the city of Sitia (15min away). The restaurant is situated at the center of the village, it is brand new and the whole place reveals the wormth of its owners. Everything is clean, well placed and organized. And what about the food....I visited the restaurant twice, everything that I tasted was delicious and the plates went empty in a matter of minutes. Prices also were affordable (10€/person).

We had lunch twice here this year. It is the perfect retreat from the mid day sun. The views are great and the elevated position provides a nice cool draught. The music is also super cool that plays consisting of quality well crafted Ballard's. I expect this is no accident as the lady who owns the place is a notable singer and the venue hosts live music evenings during the week. Highly recommend but note you will have to do a bit of off roading to find it. Perfect place to sink a chilled mythos whilst listening to cool music and gazing out to sea.

Our first full day in Kato Zakros, we headed for the beach and parked ourselves in front of this café and got free sunbeds perfect.
After a morning of sunbathing, swimming, relaxing and a couple of drinks from here we then had a really nice lunch. It was a mix of pies Spinach and cheese with some nice chips and salad, oh yes wine, all very yummy.
The service here is great friendly and attentive, played some dominos then back on the sunbeds for a doze, the perfect way to spend a day and a lovely café.
