We went here because it was a couple of hundred feet from the Shakespeare garden play. It is a typical English pub. Fair selection of beers on draft beers. I cook so I can be too critical, bear that in mind when I say the food sounded good, and there was plenty of the pasta and red sauce on my plate. I usually put more than three shrimp and one scallop on a plate. In the chef's defense there was nine people at our table and he had a very small cooking area. It is a pub after all and he is the only one cooking and preparing.

Great fish and chips. They have the classic home made version with the chip truck fries. Other than that a typical pub from what I could tell. One waitress was really bad with not knowing their specials and not knowing what to recommend on the menu, however another trip was fine.

The food is not great but not bad. Good selection on their menu. Some home made which was average. I was not impressed with the beer tavern feeling, it is just a older bar. Tables could have been cleaned and perhaps place matts or table cloth of some sort. My chair was broken. More then likely the same old bar tables from the days of legal in-door smoking. The food is not bad but the place needs a up-date in the matter of their décor.
