Maritime Express is housed in a stately former hotel building from the days when trains ran service to the town of Kentville. It is worth a visit to soak up tha atmosphere of this impressive historical building. We sampled the. Vegetarian and Chicken sandwiches from the small one page menu. Both were tasty but not sizeable. Bigger appetites would be satiated with the eye catching burger. Try the Cider Flight which is ample and the best way to get a taste of what is on tap.For the beer lover there are plenty Craft Brews listed on the chalk board.

Stopped in for a snack and a pint. Beer was ok. The scallops with bacon jam taste but you only get 3 for 15$ we had the tapas plate too. Dont waste your money. The meat had so much fat it was inedible. The tomato dip was very runny. Cheese and crackers ok. We did tell our server , however she seem unconcerned about our dissatisfaction . Not the same place it was. This was our 3rd visit. There wont be a 4th. Has a nice patio Hi thereThank you for taking the time to write this review. The Bacon Jam Scallops are a very popular appetizer, we are glad you enjoyed them! The price lends more to the Tidal Bay Wine Reduction, Bacon Jam, and herbs that complement the scallops. Should you wish to add scallops to a meal, they are only $6.We regret very much that you did not enjoy your experience. The meat on the tapas board is actually locally cured Proscuitto, and we do not trim the fat off as it is not meant to be a lean meat. The "tomato" dip was actually Roasted Red Pepper dip, and is supposed to be the consistency of a dip, not a spread. Should you choose to return, always feel free to ask your server if you are unsure about what you are ordering, as if you are expecting one thing and receive another, it could definitely lead to dissatisfaction. With Warm RegardsManagement

I wanted steak and lobster because I am in Nova Scotia and lobsters are the thing to eat here. Unfortunately so many surf and turf restaurants are now closed until the spring, so I settled on this place. I knew they had lobster and steak but not together, so I had to build my own by ordering the two meals together. They were not willing to cut any sort of deal on combining the two, so it was $28 for the lobster and $16 for the steak. And the verdict is that the lobster was worth it and the steak, not so much. I think the combo somewhere else would make more sense, and I would be inclined to eat here again with more pub-fare type food.

The Church Brewing Company

We were told by the hostess it was an hour wait for a table. She said we couldn’t wait at the bar as it was full...not sure about that, unless there were a lot of people that had just gone to the washroom, with their drink. I wanted to see what it was all about so our party of 2 waited, and waited, and waited...at an hour I checked to see how much longer...” it’s really hard to tell” she said... so at the 92, yes, that’s right we waited 92 minutes, I said we are still waiting... flustered, she got us a table...Then, the server told us it was a 45 minutes wait for food... I said come on, only a third of the tables are occupied, it’s in between lunch and supper. She said the kitchen was overwhelmed and that’s why the long wait for tables. The meal itself was mediocre, my fries were obviously pre cooked, cooled, then thrown back in the fryer. Luckily I didn’t crack a tooth on them. The wings and chicken sandwich tastes the same, don’t order them together. The lemonade had a absolutely no lemon flavour, but is advertised as “fresh squeezed”. Strange.I place the blame entirely on the kitchen staff, it’s unfair of your serving staff to compensate for lack of time management and organization. Your hostess should have said they weren’t taking any more tables until supper. It very much feels like they are discouraging customers to patronize their restaurant. And there is a huge lack of communication between the kitchen and the front of the house. I thought perhaps that it was recently opened, but no, I see reviews from February 2019. The growing pains of a new eatery should be long gone by this time. Very disappointed in The Church Brewing Company. Lots of other good local places to go to!Also : Maybe don’t plant flowers if you don’t want insects around the tables outside. Hornets were fierce and plentiful! Also, utensils dropped on the floor, even when wrapped in a serviette, should not be used on a table, get new, clean ones!
