The Dinner Plate Family Restaurant

Reviewed By Karen C

After reading the reviews on Trip Advisor, we decided to try this restaurant on our day trip to Yarmouth. The place is fairly good sized, with an assortment of booths and tables. The menu is large, with everything from seafood, to sandwiches, soups to all day breakfasts. It took us awhile to decide what to order! We were surprised at the variety and pleased at the prices. One ordered a hamburger, with a side of coleslaw.. one ordered a turkey salad sandwich, one ordered the haddock and scallops platter and one ordered the Captain's platter which was huge!! For $23 the Captain's platter came with haddock, scallops and clams as well as small dish of creamed lobster. Seriously. we would go back for the creamed lobster alone!!We were all very pleased with the quality and quantity of food. The fried items were not greasy, the batter was light, and the seafood was fresh. This will be our go-to restaurant in Yarmouth from now on.Lunch for 4 was approximately $60 and we were all very happy.

Merns Place

One of my fav seafood and pie place of all time...i absolutely LOVE Merns! The owner is so nice and she makes the most amazing pies..they look incredible and taste amazing!! I tool my Albertan boyfriend there during his visit..he asked the owner about her smoked salmon and egg sauce as he had never heard of egg sauce before. Next thing we knew..she brought out a generous sample side for him to try and he loved it and all the other food he tried.Fav place for clams still...Cannot wait till summer to go back!

Chuck's Diner

We had two excellent diner meals before Chuck's burned down. The owner is a great cook and very pleasant to talk with. - We hope he rebuilds! Our best meal was a full, diner-style breakfast with eggs, sausage, bacon, homefries, toast and homemade jam. Our lunch was rather average fried seafood.

My wife and I came to The Old Mill to see what the new owners had done. The Eat in part was redone and looked great but apparently it is not quite done. I had fish and fries but I had my fries made into poutine. My wife had the Oooey Gooey Grill Cheese sandwitch with Donair meat. She loved it and mine was good too. This restaurant is also take out and a Dairy bar. We we definitely be back.
