Don’t judge a book by its cover- this restaurant has amazing food. We stayed in Choburna for a week and tried well reviewed restaurants in progreso, Chelem and chorburna- this one was our favorite and we returned several times. Our family of five has a practice to all order different dishes so we can sample the most- most the dishes were amazing! Our favorites were: fried fish, coconut shrimp, and these fried vegetable fritters (starts with c and can’t remember name). We also went fishing locally and caught our own fish that the restaurant was happy to fry up for us. Th owner also indicated he did tours for fishing and what not but we didn’t use him- he was very friendly and accommodating to my family. If we make it back to this region we will be back here!!!!

Came here with a friend who suggested we try it for breakfast. Beautiful restaurant with a nice outdoor patio. Service was a bit slow, but efficient. The food was delicious. We both got the open face sandwich (although I don’t remember the word they used for it) with chorizo and it was great. Not sure about lunch or dinner but the breakfast was great. Definitely worth visiting.

Sol y Mar

We dined here twice on a recent trip to the Yucatan. I'd read several reviews raving about the pina colada and let me say it definitely lived up to the hype! Probably the best pina colada I've ever had- creamy and not overly sweet and served with a nice heavy dusting of nutmeg (I think). The margaritas are on point too- way better than any that we'd had from the more touristy places on the waterfront. The tamarind margarita was my favorite but even just the regular lime one was fabulous- and they have a great chili salt for your rim. The fish ceviche was perfect- tart and refreshing and served with sides of chips, hot sauce and ketchup- I wish I could have another one right now! Service was friendly and efficient. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Progreso!

Our first cisit to this restaurant was during a norte at Christmas in 2017. We were so pleasantly surprised to find this gem, we have been back repeatedly throughout 2018! Although I love the pastas, my husband is enchanted by the grilled mero with garlic which is always a huge, thick chunk and tastes like steak! Our friends rave over the pizza which is baked in a woodfire pizza oven. Service is pretty good and the windows offer views over the malecon to the beach and Gulf. We have never been disappointed and if you live or vacation at the beach, it is nice to get a good quality dinner without driving to Merida.

We had seafood ceviche- combination of shrimp and octopus ceviche which was excellent. Love the location, we were able to enjoy the beach scene while under roof with occasional beach breeze blowing. The staff is excellent and they are all very attentive. Thank you very much for your excellent comments, I am pleased to know that your visit was as expected and that both the food and the service were to your liking.I hope you visit us very soon to continue serving you as you deserve.

Crabster

Crabster is a very mediocre restaurant that caters to wealthy vacationers. The food was not fresh and very poorly prepared. The were several kids running around and crawling under our table and when we asked the waiter for some assistance he ignored us. The food, price wise, also not in sync with the surrounding restaurants. It is very over priced for what you get. Not many locals frequent this restaurant.

We drove around and walked around trying to find a smaller, quieter spot to enjoy the beach where we could rent shade. We had given up and parked a ways down from the Malecon. We entered the beach at the colorful Progresso sign. We decided to get some lunch on the beach in the shade of the umbrellas at the tables. We used our very limited Spanish and one of the waiters spoke some English. Lunch was good and very filling. We had grilled "plancha" fish tacos instead of fried fish tacos and pollo asado along with an order of guacamole. With ordering drinks and food, you could use the beach beds and beach chairs. They nicely put up an umbrella for us to use by the beach chairs. My daughter enjoyed use of the pool. The staff were nice and helpful and the music was relaxed and not party dance music. Thanks for your coment we appreciate that ❤️
