I was really surprised by the (low) average quality of restaurants in Bruges compared to the francophone Belgian cities. This restaurant is a good example of it. All of them offer the same cheese croquettes. Which don't deserve to be called croquettes. We had the Flemish beef stew, whose sauce was glutinous, and you are offered extra portions of their frozen fries. Staff are very nice, but the food is mediocre, and this was not the worst place we visited.

After walking around the city we stopped for here for dinner. The mussels were amazing. The sauce of cream, tomato and celery was very good. Portions are very large so you can share if not too hungry. Needless to say the three on my party each ordered their own and easily devoured the entire pot.

Had a brilliant meal here this week. Service friendly though a bit impersonal, but the moules were superb! Large and tasty, huge plate with excellent frites, a fair price for this quality of restaurant (and for a very reasonable 26 Euros the best bottle of Chardonnay we've had in Europe this year - but it was South African.......)

Celebrated my wife's 40th here whilst staying in Bruges for the weekend, it was recommended by Hotel Van Cleef (amazing hotel). We were not disappointed, the standard of cooking and presentation was very high and the waiters and sommelier were excellent. We opted for the 6 course tasting menu with a flight of wines and everything we tasted was "wow", the pigeon was particularly incredible. Worthy of its Michelin stars,Dear Permchiller, Thank you ever so much for taking the time to write a review and it's nice to hear from you that you enjoyed your wife her Birthday weekend in our nice city.We truly appreciate your wonderful feedback. We hope we can welcome you once more in our restaurant for another wonderful experience; Sincerely, Team de Jonkman

Came here upon recommendation of friends but did not live up to expectations. Our friends told us that the fish soup was delicious but had better ones elsewhere. Also very expensive here, not worth it at all. The waiter was unexperienced and spilled the soup a bit on the table. Little fish in the soup and the lobster was overcooked. The main waiter came across as somewhat haughty, we felt totally unappreciated. A real waste of our money.Dear You visited our restaurant in the beginning of May, its the end of July now. You wrote on the same day 18 reviews for restaurants you visited in Bruges. The chance that your review is credible and correct is probably less than 1%. We serve our soup bowl always on another big plate, so that it’s more hygienic, practical for us to carry and handier for our client not to spill the soup on the table. Our restaurant stands for good price-quality and very friendly waiters. Last, it really concerns me that you wrote in the last few years 683 different reviews for maybe only 20 different cities. But maybe that’s just me ! Kinds RegardsDe Gouden Kroes

Shortly after arriving at the restaurants, which at the time was half empty, my partner received a phone call informing him that his family member was involved in a life threatening traffic accident. My partner went outside the restaurant to take the call and I asked the waiter whether it would be possible to slightly delay service while my partner was finding out what had happened. The waiter said it would be absolutely fine. Literally a few minutes later, a chef emerged from the kitchen shouting at me in front of other guests that we shouldn’t have come to a restaurant if we wanted to be on the phone (despite the fact that my partner was taking the call outside the restaurant). When I was, once again, trying to explain the situation, he refused to listen and told me to get out. Although the waitress was clearly embarrassed by this outburst and was apologetic, the chef in question did not make any effort to apologise or to even listen. The experience was beyond anything I ever imagined could happen in a restaurant which charges these prices or any restaurant for that matter. When I was shown the door of the restaurant, I went outside not only to find my partner in distress at the call he had received, but I had to tell him that we had no where to eat either and that we had been effectively chucked out into the cold. In a situation like this, when any restaurant would and should have shown human kindness and a little bit of patience, we were embarrassed in front of other guests and treated like dirt. Such a place doesn’t deserve to be in business.Dear SirFirst I would like to express that I hope that your friend's family is okay. Concerning what happened yesterday, I can only say that the chef was way out of line. This is not his normal behaviour. There was clearly a miscommunication between the waiter and the chef. I wish to offer our deepest apologies for what happened. Kind regardsChris Mestdagh

The warmth of the welcome at Zet'Joe was an appropriate set-up to what turned out to be a delicious meal. We had the 3-course set menu (+cheese) which came with 3 separate amuse-bouches. Everything was perfectly cooked and there were some beautiful, innovative touches (the curried mussels were a particular highlight). My wife is allergic to shellfish (which I highlighted on the online booking form) and they were more than happy to flex the menu to fit her requirements. Service was impeccable throughout and the chef came round to introduce himself to all the guests. It wasn't cheap, but it was great value for money given the quality of food and experience.

Overall not impressed. First impressions were that the Restaurant needed a fresh coat of paint. Lacked atmosphere . Nice pieces of Steak very well cooked but mine came very heavily pre_seasoned with pepper which totally ruined my steak. My husband had pepper sauce with his Steak and in his opinion the sauce was harsh. In our opinion there are nicer places to eat.
