First visit since new owners took over in the summer and happy to report that it was a very positive experience. It's good to see that it still has a bar area which was being well used by locals. It has the option of eating in the bar or in the restaurant and we chose the former. The welcome was warm - as was the room - and the service excellent. Although not an extensive menu it's probably the better for that. What there was, was some very good cooking - the pies were outstanding and the chips some of the best we'd all eaten for a long time. Worth the drive for the chips alone! Chef came out to check all was well - always a welcome touch.Thankyou so much for taking the time to review your evening with us. I am so glad you enjoyed your meal and hope to see you again soon.

We popped in for a light lunch and pint after a morning's country walk.We were made to feel welcome by friendly staff. Two cask ales, both from Suffolk brewers, were on offer on hand pumps and the choice adequately met our needs.One of us chose the roasted vegetable with melted cheese ciabatta and the other a cheese and coleslaw sandwich. Both were nicely presented, and the portions were ample. We both enjoyed our food.The bar (where we chose to sit, rather than in the restaurant) was comfortable and the interior of the premises clean and attractive. There is an enormous rear beer garden with lots of seating and nice views over the countryside.Prices were reasonable for what we ate and drank. We left happy and satisfied and are very likely to use this pub when next walking in the vicinity. Stopped in for a late lunch for four and thought it was very nice.Service was a little on the slow side but we weren't in a rush so suited us.All had roast dinners and desserts and thought it was very tasty and actually well priced at £12 for the basic roast and £6 for dessert. I wouldnt have wanted to pay more for what it was though. Lacking crispy potatoes but was still nice.Its really light and airy inside and looked to have a nice beer garden out the back. A good amount of parking space too.Will go back to try the mid-week menu.

Spent most of the time swiping flies away from the food. Although the food was good it wasnât exceptional, have paid less for better but the biggest downfall was the constant pestering from flies. The dining room was alive with flies. This was a problem the last time we visited so will not be going again. The staff are aware but donât seem concerned. I am sorry that your experience was not what you expected when you dined with us.Iâm afraid we are in a no win situation regarding flies. We are in the country and the restaurant can become very warm if the windows are closed. We have some diners who request the windows open as there is no air flow but this Iâm afraid allows those pesky winged creatures in.The girls I believe offered to close the windows and doors for you but you declined this offer.Sorry you will not returning to us but Iâm afraid I can not stop this from happening.RegardsIan

I eat at this pub whenever I visit Bury St Edmunds, even though it is about 20 minutes away.The food served is cooked to order, none of this "off the hotplate" to give a freshly cooked atmosphere.The staff are extremely friendly and will assist in providing an excellent service.If you intend to visit on a Friday or Saturday evening - it is highly recommended that you telephone and book a table as it is very busy.

We stopped here for a quick bite to eat and stretch our legs as we were on a motorbike. At first we found the owner slightly abrupt and unfortunately they only served roast dinners on a Sunday. They were accommodating however and made us a sandwich which we were really grateful for. Couldnât fault the food served to be fair.

Visited here for my mumâs birthday and a Sunday roast. Two of the party had the roast loin of pork which was lovely and came with a selection of vegetables and massive Yorkshire puddings (always a bonus) the other had from the small menu on offer so if roasts arenât your thing you can always have something else.Save room for the chocolate brownies as they were warmed up with ice cream a real treat!

A group of 6, we visited for mid afternoon lunch. Menu was comprehensive and had the usual favourites on. Staff were pleasant and efficient. Food was very nice and there were no leftovers.
