We had a booking at the Blackwell Ox and were looking forward to a meal and evening out . We wanted to try it to book for a party of 9 people next week . Firstly we were not shown our table , just told itâs table 30 by the window. The tables were not numbered so we had to guess which one it was . We were left for 20 minutes with a menu , no one came to ask if we wanted a drink . My partner was sitting in front of a door marked private and staff had to squeeze behind him to reach a store . Another waitress passed a high chair over my head to stack it in another corner . The staff all looked frazzled , stressed and were extremely busy , they did not pay us any attention whatsoever. There was a smell of cooking in the restaurant and my menu had sticky stains on the reverse . After 20 minutes of being paid absolutely no attention we got up and left without ordering , no one seemed to notice . Needless to say we will not return and certainly will not book for our party of 9 next week as I would be embarrassed to take my family to a restaurant with such shoddy service .

Called in for Sunday lunch but wished we hadnât bothered. We ordered trio of meats, beef,gammon and turkey! The beef came pink but so tough we couldnât cut it up. The gammon was a thick slice of bacon!! The turkey was okay but not enough of it!The roast potatoes were frozen or looked and tasted like they were. The veg was a mushed up mess only the carrots and broccoli being ok! Yorkshire pud too big and tasteless! Gravy too thin! Sorry for such a negative review but wonât be returning unless the quality improves. Very disappointing!Thank you for your feedback and please accept my apologies for not meeting your expectations. We have a lot of fantastic comments about our Sunday Roasts, but seem to only have negative reviews appear about them. I will pass on your comments to the kitchen team to help them improve. Thank you again for taking the time to let us know how we can improve. We hope you will consider us again in the future. Take care.

On route to our holiday destination in north Yorkshire we stopped off in Stokesley to find somewhwere to have lunch. The first place we tried, a large hotel come pub, was closed for the day so we wandered a little further and spotted this little pub, 'The Spread Eagle'. This turned out to be a 'proper' little town pub with a dining area and we iemediatly recieved a warm welcome from the lady at the bar so we thought we would give it a try. Wow! were we pleased we did. The food was excellent. There were four of us, two couples, and I chose a Gammon Steak, my colleague had the home made Rabbit Pie, and the ladies both opted for the Parmasan Chicken dish. Well, when the food came we could not believe the size of the portions. I struggled to finish my Gammon but did so with relish, my colleague devoured his Rabbit Pie declaring the best he had ever tasted, and both our wives agreed that they had never had a chicken dish as different and tasty as the 'Parmasan Chicken'. They both declared that they could only manage to eat half the portion at which point the Chef, who happened to be passing our table, told us it was not a problem as he would give us doggy bags to take with us. He took the plates away and came back shortly with two individually packed bags containg the remainder of the chicken. Our wives subsequently used them for another meal a couple of days later declaring the chicken still very tasty. All the staff were freindly, the service very good, and the food excellent. The only thing we missed was the delightful desserts because we were too full to eat any more.Would we go back? well we did, making a 40 mile round trip from our holiday home to have our Sunday Lunch there and again it was well worth the trip.

Called here for lunch on a really sunny day. Great menu - 2 courses or light bites and a special board.Service very good. Staff courteous and helpful. My father in law cleaned his plate completely. Sweets absolutely wonderful and a great choice.Would definitely recommend and return.

Despite some poor reviews below, we really enjoyed our visit. Four adults and a well behaved dog......Four Sunday lunches ( one vegetarian, One beef, one fish n chips, and one trio of meat sunday lunch). The food was delivered without much of a delay, despite the place being busy. The waiting staff ensured our orders were taken and quickly dealt with. All staff were all very polite and helpful. Our table was cleaned prior to us seating ( previous diners had young children, and a catapult - allegedly !). The meals were well cooked and well presented, and they certainly served good sized portions for us all. Plenty of meat and vegetables.We also had 2 sweets, ( for the ladies to enjoy ), and they were pretty big portions too ! Seemed like great value to us, coming out at £20 per head overall, including some drinks. Dog friendly so there were a lot of people with their mutts, and all were well behaved ( tired after a good walk I think). Dog bowls for water were seen to be available too.Good sized car park at the rear of the pub.

We were a group of 9 adults for a pre-booked Saturday lunch. The menus are extensive and varied. The £8.00 "specials menu included lasagna, mushroom risotto, Thai chicken curry and, of course, the local delicacy "Parmo". Everything went down well as did our one extravagance a "Tomerhawk" steak (£25.00). Portions were substantil - we needed one "doggy bag". Including two desserts, some beers (The MIll @ £4.30/pint) and ciders (Cloudy apple @ £2.20/half) and four coffees (@ £2.50), our total bill, before tip, was £162.70 which I thought was acceptable for everything we had. Service was very friendly and efficient and it was useful to be able to check on progress in the Liverpool-Newcastle Utd match on a TV in the adjacent bar.

The Jet Miners is a kind of Harvester type establishment, serving food supplied from a distant factory, i.e. downmarket. It has a canteen type atmosphere, all very Harvester too. The menu ranges from pub food staples, such as fish and chips and steak pie, to fish dishes, including Fishermanâs Pie and Seafood Tagliatelle, steaks, salads and burgers plus some so-called âsignature dishesâ. My wife went for one of these, Tartiflette (£13.50). I had the Fishermanâs Pie (£13.50). My Fishermanâs Pie was nothing special, but my wifeâs Tartiflette was dreadful. I suspect that the chef has never eaten this dish in France. Imagine a cook in China, who has never left the country, producing what he thinks is steak and ale pie and you get the idea. A joke! I asked the waitress if I should go and show the chef how it is made, but there was no response. The service was not good, but rather amusing, in a rather sad sort of way. Awkward. No training. We shared a cheese board to finish, and a tiny one it was too (£6.95). As I always told my German students. English is unique in that we have no expression such as guten appetit, bon appetit or buen aprovecho in English. That is because eating in England is often a most unpleasant experience. QED.You reviewed The Jet Miners Inn. Please make sure that you use the correct photos of the menu in future. Mistakes like these are a bit embarrassing for a well seasoned traveller like yourself! Well done in reaching your " Level 6 Contributor". Clearly you have nothing better to do with your time.

Called in "on spec" and boy were we glad we did. The decor is classic Yorkshire pub and the food fits into the same catagory. It is good basic wholesome food,not fancied up and priced to match. We just simply and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. If you are hungry this is the place to go.

I have been visiting this pub restaurant periodically for over 30 years which incidentally used to be amazing! But sadly my past two visits have been extremely disappointing. Apart from the extremely friendly waitress, the place is grubby, with ingrained food on the fabric seats in the restaurant. The furniture doesn't appear to have been refurbed for many many years if ever! We waited ages for our main course and when it arrived it had lost its special status from me! Mediocre! It has gone right down the pan! We shan't be returning! Come on Dudley keep up with your competitors!

We stayed her one night while walking the Cleveland Way. Its a couple of miles off the trail and the staff will pick you up and drop you back the next morning.We had a large bedroom with a bath as well as a shower, which was welcome after our long walk. We ate in the restaurant and the food was good and well priced. as it was a Friday night there was live music and the bar was very busy. When we went to bed there was some noise from below, but it soon quietened down and well had a great night's sleep.Thanks for your fabulous review. We are very pleased you enjoyed your stay. Our music nights are very popular and thankfully situated at the opposite end of the building to the hotel rooms! We hope you visit us again for another good nights sleep. Simon.
