Find out what Pizza restaurants to try in Matera. Get to Matera quickly, because it’s still relatively undiscovered by foreign tourists. In town, visit the Domenico Ridola National Museum. Matera’s real claim to fame, though, and the reason it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the extensive series of cave dwellings ("i sassi") southeast of town, first inhabited by Benedictine and Basilian monks. You’ll see individual cells, chapels, and even some churches, many adorned with Byzantine decorations and frescoes.

The pizzas here use high quality ingredients and are cooked well; they are comparable to the best that Naples offers. It's great to find a top notch Neapolitan style pizza in Matera! The interior has been sympathetically restored and the menu offers excellent value for money!

Recommended by chef Nicola in Osteria San Francesco where we had complete faith on him after trying there, this restaurant had actually another surprise found in Matera. A simple menu and everything was cooked to preserve its natural taste without being salty or greasy. We shared the beet sauce pasta and the steak. Al dente pasta that blends well with the beetroot with pistachio nuts as a fresh starter. The steak was tender, juicy but not greasy. It's simply simple yet pleasing and to finish off the day without a fatty greasy feel in the stomach. One more note, the price was reasonable and truly value for money with such quality. Dear Mrs Irene, We're very pleased for your words and glad you had a good time in our restaurant. It was a pleasure for us having you with us. Hoping to see you soon, we send our best regards

Brilliant food, great service and very reasonably priced. This is a super little place for lunch for dinner but because it is small it does get full very quickly. The menu contains the usual pasta and pizza dishes but also does a good steak and salad. We were amused to see 'chip' pizza on the menu!Thank you a lot!!!!

I went here with my boyfriend who normally hates gluten free food (he doesn't require gluten free, he just chooses to eat with me) and he loved this place. It tasted like normal pasta and though the portions appear small they are very filling. They don't make pizzas for lunch so we opted for a truffle pasta and also a basil/tomato pasta. The truffle pasta was very creamy and rich even tho it was dairy free and the tomato pasta was full of flavour. We were also given two batches of bread (which we might have been charged a small amount for but the bill doesn't break down prices and it would've been around â¬0.50 per basket. My truffle pasta cost â¬14 my boyfriends pasta cost â¬8 and we also ordered a bottle of water and were given two bowls of gluten free bread. The bill came to â¬27.Highly recommend!

The place is adorable, the view of the hill sitting outside is incredible, the food was spectacular, with an extensive variety of regional dishes. Reasonably priced and good portions. Friendly staff. We were celebrating a birthday and they helped us get a cake from a local pastry shop. It was fantastic, I strongly recommend it! Also strongly recommend the burrata dish and the lamb!

This place is keenly made pizza and local wine with self-service. Do price is very cheap. They don't charge you for great view. I enjoyed sitting the edge of great city view with beer and pizza casually. Not always, We need high class restaurant or cheap suvenier shop food to enjoy great view.Tank you so much Kazumi for your review! :)

What a great little place to grab some excellent pizza, have a drink and watch the world go by, and Matera is quite a special place to do that. The staff were so friendly and helpful and made a fresh yummy Calzone for a gluten free member of the family. They were thrilled with the taste. As a family it was a great stop for some freshly prepared, tasty, great value food. I enjoyed stopping here and watching everyone passing by on their evening stroll.

AltraPizza, a few meters from the center of Matera, is a take away pizzeria with home delivery service and 30 seats. Our pizzas, soft, light and crunchy, are the result of a maturation of 96 hours and cooking in a wood oven. Wide range of doughs (moringa,
Did not live up to the reviews. Nice pizza. Quick and cheap but would not go out of your way for it.

My gorgeous tour guide recommended this little place for lunch and am I ever glad I listened! Definitely some of the best food I've ever had, coupled with the fun experience of trying something completely different. The sandwich was so good I went back at dinner and got the same thing. I also took a piece of mattonella for my long drive back to Naples the next day. The beers here are really good too. I always try to drink local when it's available and these are delicious! The little gal behind the counter was adorable and so helpful a d sweet.
