Things to do in Takaka
We make hand crafted, filled quality chocolates in Takaka, Golden Bay - Europe meets New Zealand with a contemporary twist! We also make sweets, desserts and patisserie and serve great coffee and hot chocolate in our gorgeous little shop in the main stree
What an amazing find! So many choices of fantastic chocolates with my favourite being firstly the passionfruit and secondly the liquorice, aniseed and blackcurrent ones (sounds crazy but tastes amazing and has just won a gold award as well). Friendly and helpful service and the tastes are heaven! I was devastated when Rosy Glow chocolates in Collingwood closed as I was worried I would not get a good chocolate fix on my Golden Bay holiday, but these guys are even better!

Such a special place to visit, in the middle of native Bush is this hidden gem. We were lucky enough to have a short visit and stayed in the accommodation as well as having meals in the restaurant/cafe. Breakfast is brilliant, The eggs with rhubarb ketchup and feta was the light in my life. Such a strange combination has never been so perfect for one another! The lunch menu is perfect, light and breezy, perfect for the location, coffee and lunch in the sun. A couple of wines and café style meals. Or you can always enjoy a beer down at the pizzeria with the best handmade pizza around! The dinner menu could have dropped from somewhere a lot more sophisticated (not that the lodge isnât sophisticated! Itâs beautiful!) The dinner menu is drool inducing. I had the Black Garlic pappadelle and only wish I could have it every single night for the rest of my life! The perfect trip! Worth the distance to visit this gem. Also, the kids menu was much better than other places. No boring nuggets in site.

Right on Main Street and great curb appeal. Pop on in and be treated to lots of goodies. The dangerous little chocolate goodies are worth the indulgence. The staff are really friendly and eager to help you out with coffee, local sauces and many other local delights.

Mediterranean style accommodation and restaurant in a quiet and peaceful setting, a two minute walk from Pohara Beach, shops and cafés. A set dinner menu for casual and in-house guests is available throughout summer. Bookings are essential. For room rates
Its a set menu option, changes daily. well described so you know what you will get. On our night, it was a slow cooked pork with prunes wrapped in bacon, saukrat & rosemary potatoes. Very tasty, the mustard sauce setting it off perfectly. Enjoyed a lemon sponge tower for desert, my partner the tiramasu.Dear PauleLecThank you so much for your lovely review. Popped in later on a Saturday night on our way to Collingwood as no where else open. Our group of four ordered 3 different mains, all very generous portions, cooked to perfection with everyone raving about our meals. Beautiful vege sides, just wonderful. Background music would be beneficial. Efficient friendly service.

Funky Little shack providing western and asian takeaway options. Front seating allows a relaxed dining option as you watch the world go by. Offering burgers, fish and chips, asian and indian food all made on site. Phone orders welcome. Must try the chicke
The Curry Leaf was a recommendation from the guy at the motel for fish and chips, so we gave it a go.This place seems to be a fusion of Chinese, Indian and traditional takeaway food. We saw some people getting what looked like butter chicken but it appeared a bit watery-looking to us, so we decided against that. Our fish and chips took quite a long time - about 40 mins - which seemed a bit excessive for takeaways. However they were quite busy and it looked like they were under-staffed with only two people working there. The fish which was hoki was ok, but a bit too greasy. However the helpings of chips were more than generous and we decided we could've done with half the amount! They were nicely cooked however. We would probably be more inclined to try one of the other dishes recommended from other TA reviewers next time we visit.

Toasty warm on a cold winter's day. Hot cheesy pizza. A small but perfect wine menu. Cheerful staff who are serious about lush food

I ordered the pork belly burger for lunch one afternoon and it was to die for!. You also get a generous slab of pork belly, can't complain.

Visited the home café whilst travelling with family what an amazing find excellent food excellent facilities plenty of energy from the staff and customers, it felt like a community café with a great noticeboard and very much environmental issues are at the forefront of how the café runs. Loved it. Will return if we travel from UK to New Zealand again Thank you Thank you! what a wonderful review we really appreciate it!
