I stopped at here on my way to Mt. Cook from Christchurch. As many intercity buses do, my bus made a few stops along the way. This was the one. I ordered sausage pie. Nothing special about it. Taste, quality, and service were just standard bus stop cafes all around NZ.

We bought a take-away cheese and onion sandwich, and a salmon and cream-cheese bagel. The sandwich was pretty uninspiring but the salmon in the bagel was mouldy, and made my wife ill. We ate them within a few hours of purchase but were too far away by that time to take them back and complain.

This placed delivered on the promise of a pleasant and casual meal in a relaxed setting. On the night we visited there were plenty of people sitting outside in the large garden area, and there was also generous seating inside. There was a good balance of a casual and well-presented environment and an upbeat atmosphere, but not noisy. Our meals were generous and tasty and I complimented the chef on my simple, fresh and very enjoyable mozarella salad, and my husband also enjoyed his conventional burger. Thanks for a nice evening meal. Bonus is the central location in town - we could walk from our motel.

In the last year we have traveled through Geraldine three times and have stopped for breakfast on each occasion. The Central Cafe and Grill has the best breakfast by far in Geraldine that we have experienced. We both had the two plus two which was two eggs, potato hash, bacon, mushrooms and toast all cooked to perfection. Would highly recommend.

Average food, very sweet Jinja beer, sterile decor, nondescript ambience, pleasant rural surroundings. A nice place to stop for a break.We feel sorry you feel this way. However, we have been operating for 10 years as a Brewery and many people have complemented us on allowing the scenery out the windows to be the major part of our decor. Our Jinja Beer is very popular and has less sugar content than commercial fizzy drinks and is made on site with real ingredients. Thank you for your feedback and we will take on your comments.

We called in for brunch and were looking forward to some delicious food. Alas my french toast arrived absolutely drenched in maple syrup and was terribly sweet. I would prefer to add my own according to taste. My partner had the eggs benne which were served on an ordinary burger bun with a tasteless hollandaise sauce. The meals were served on plates which were far too small and made it difficult to eat the food. All in all very disappointing!
