Libero Pizza & Pasta Restaurant

Reviewed By dinnerhound458

I've had four or five meals now in Libero's, some great, some lousy, and some on the spectrum in between. If I were to give a rating for the food alone I'd give it a 2.5, if there were such a rating, but this review is not about the food; it's about the wine. Over those meals we ordered everything on the short (about six) red wine list. We kept ordering different bottles each time as the wine was so consistently and unusually light there was clearly something wrong with it. We thought it was just maybe bad quality wine, and ordered two different bottles at the table one particular evening to try to get away from this watery wine. The wine at the last meal was the final straw. I'll never be back after that. We'd never ordered Rioja as it's so heavy it can interfere with the appetite - not this Rioja! It was as watery as the rest. In my opinion the wine in Libero's is deliberately watered down, which would explain why it was *never,* in our experience, opened at the table. If I am right - what a disgraceful way to treat their customers. If I am wrong (which I doubt) - my God - these people need to find a new place to order their wine. They'd need to start opening it at the table too, in the general tradition of honest and civilised restaurants. Please allow me to take this opportunity to thank you for your feedback. All comments, whether good or bad are essential to us in order to help improve our business.Upon reading your review which was entitled “Beware Libero's Water down The Wine” I presume this title was for maximum shock factor, I would now like to address your points. You have pretty much branded me and my staff as cowboys who enjoy giving out watered down wine. Personally I find this accusation to be one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard. You do however pose a few valid points which I would love the opportunity to address with you;*Firstly as you rated our food 2.5 my question to this is: If you have indeed visited our restaurant as often as you claimed and if you were indeed disappointed as often as you said you were, why on earth would you return to a restaurant with such mediocre food? Also, you stated that on 5 separate occasions you were not happy with your wine yet you did not make your feelings known to a member of staff on any of these occasions? I find this statement to be completely disingenuous*Secondly, you are correct in stating that our menu boasts only 6 Reds and 6 Whites. We also provide 2 types of sparkling wine, 1 Champagne and 1 Blush. The reason for this is that we are in fact quite a small family run restaurant so disappointingly, storage space isn’t something we have on our side. However, we do try to give the best choice we possibly can.Red wine White Wine*Voci Cabernet sauvignon *Voci Sauvignon Blanc*Voci Merlot *Voci Pinot Grigio*J.Moreau & Fils Pinot Noir *Walnut block Marlborough Ridge*Besos De Cata Malbec *Wolfblass Chardonnay*Monologo Rioja *Louis Jadot Chablis*Voci Montepulciano *Swallows Tale Chenin BlancMy wine supplies come from reputable companies:“Tindal wine merchants”“United wines” who now work with Pallas Foods“Voci Wineries” who are the main importers of our Italian reds.*Lastly I would love the opportunity to apologize to you if your bottle was not opened at the table for you; however, I can whole heartedly assure you that we once again DO NOT WATER DOWN OUR WINE. I do, however, take personal offence to this accusation as it is something that can severely damage and tarnish the reputation of a small, honest, family run business. I think this comment was made with the sole intention of damaging our reputation.Libero’s Restaurant has been in business for 21years in Balbriggan and judging by the majority of positive reviews provided to TripAdvisor I am very confident that we are providing a good service to our customers. We have also built up a very good reputation for our highly sought after Wine tasting events which take place 3 times per annum. In my opinion a good reputation is not something that can be built through scamming people or indeed by knowing the right people. A good reputation is something that is built up through sheer hard work, dedication and good quality produce. On the subject of you never setting foot on the premises again, I would like to take the opportunity to thank you on behalf of all at Libero’s.Once again I would like to thank you for your feedback. The Management.

Myself and my wife recently came across this restaurant. They do Spanish Tapas but also have a full standard menu. We opted for the two course special. For starters my wife had the Goat’a Cheese and I had the chicken wings both of which were very tasty. For mains we both had the chicken which came wrapped in bacon and was delicious with potatoes and mushroom sauce on the side. It was one of those lovely summer days so we sat outside and admired the lovely harbour view. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere relaxed. I will be back and would definitely recommend.

Divino Italian Tapas Restaurant

Tried this place on Saturday night. The venue is a very small so booking is probably necessary. The restaurant was busy when we arrived and even though it's tiny we had a table that was quite comfortable. The proximity of the next table wasn't off putting despite the size. The only negative was the table location which was by the door and the breeze from the opening door was cutting. The food was very good we got the mozzarella wrapped in Parma ham to start. It was really good, even though it comes with rocket which I dislike. But the mix with the balsamic vinegar was lovely. For mains we got the carbonara and the bolenese. These were lovely. My girlfriend is a coeliac and could get gluten free pasta which is great. I tried the carbonara and couldn't tell it was gluten free pasta. The bolognase was lovely. The only complaint was probably that there wasn't a little more of it. For dessert we got vanilla ice cream and the cannelloni special. Both were very good. All this came to around 60 with a drink and a coffee. Nice to have a good gluten free Italian option in the area.
