You'd never suspect such a brilliant restaurant in a non-descript town like Leichlingen, but it is truly worth the detour when you are on the road between Cologne and Duesseldorf (motorway A3) or happen to be in Leverkusen.The menu is short, displayed on a slate and changes every day. Sword fish carpacchio, vitello tonato, Saltimbocca of stag, fish of the day - everything we ordered was freshly made and cooked to perfection. Dessert classics like Zabaione and Panna cotta were lovely. The wine selection is good, too, and the service cordial, helpful and reliable.Don't let the unassuming exterior of the restaurant fool you: The decor is discreetly elegant in a warm way and rounds up the whole experience.Bravo!

Packed with tables and people. The interior is nothing special. A bit dull. The acoustics could be improved. Large portions and most dishes are customized to suit German taste. If you appreciate large portion this is your place to be.

We recently returned to the Tempi Moderni on a quiet Sunday evening - this time as a big party of 9 family and friends for a birthday celebratory dinner. We had booked in advance but business was slow on this evening just before the start of the working week. We were provided a seat in the long front window which was nice both for our group as well as providing great advertising to passers by. Without going into too much detail the food was generally very good even though some members of our party were a little disappointed by the modest portions. In contrast my special pizza was completely laden with loads parma ham which was absolutely delicious even though the pizza base was uncommonly dry & crispy. The service was unobtrusive and friendly. At the end of the meal the birthday girl received some pralines on the house which was nice. For such a large group, however, we thought that a free grappa or ramazotti as a parting gesture for the adults would have been appropriate. Never mind.

It has been a very long while since we last visited La Fornace and I was really looking forward to re-discovering this Italian restaurant. Our party of 7 spanning three generations booked a table outside in the shade on a balmy Friday evening recently. The first thing I noticed was that all the personnel had changed. Service was OK and we were regularly topped up with drinks (Kölsch) as at least four of us were quite thirsty that night. To get things going in the right spirit I order an Aperol Royal Prosecco which I have been drinking a lot of recently. Here it came in a tiny glass - for over 4,00 Euro. I was disappointed. As a starter I liked the sound of baby calarmares with salad. I was dismayed, however to discover that it was a huge plate - certainly enough for a main course & in fact one of our party did, indeed order it as his main course. I followed this with a pizza diavolo which was also huge - I simply couldn't finish it. I suppose having too much is better than not having enough but I just felt overwhelmed...The others in our party were satisfied enough. They had a range of dishes all of which were well cooked. Somehow I left with mixed feelings. The place had somehow changed for an atmospheric point of view. One of the waitresses who could hardly speak German let alone English which somehow seemed to sum it up for me - there was the missing homely, friendly feel about the whole place which I remember from the past. Sorry, but for me I classify it now as "average" even though my 13 year old son thought it was "excellent" because he liked his pizza margarita :-)

My business colleague and I stumbled on the Corallo Italian restaurant in Odenthal and thought that we would try it out.We found a table for ourselves and a young lady was soon available to take our drinks order - an apple drink and a non alcoholic "Coconut kiss" cocktail. The latter was particularly refreshing on a hot summers day. We then ordered our lunch - the liver with onions and a side plate of potatoes and a Pappardella Scampi pasta dish. Both dishes were nicely presented and delicious.We had a little bit of difficulty making ourselves understood to the Italian waitress for the dessert as her knowledge of German seemed to be limited. But eventually a nice slice of tiramisu arrived together with a beaker of latte macchiato.I took up the offer of a free glass of limoncello which was a nice gesture.The whole meal came to 49,80 Euro - 20 cents below the limit set for paying by credit card which was annoying.In summary this was a nice, friendly and fresh Italian lunch experience - somewhere to come back to again with the family.

We booked a table here for a romantic night out. Unfortunately we could only give two stars out of five. Our entree took over 45 minutes to arrive, the waitress was clearly overwhelmed with not even four tables occupied. She had forgotten to put in our order and remembered only as we were about to get up and leave. Our glasses also remained empty after finishing our water. She did not come back to ask if we wanted more or needed anything else. When the Bruschetta finally arrived it was on dry, floury and slightly burned bread with mushy tomatoes.The chef hat sprinkled some dried herbs on top for decoration. A disappointment. We except more from a Italian restaurant, especially for this price. The pizzas we had ordered were lovely but had way too much cheese on it. Again a shame. Against my advise my partner wanted to order a piece of beef filet with herb butter and Brokkoli for main. I was horrified.And now try to understand our complete and utter disbelief when the meat arrived in no time and it look beautifully grilled and juicy. My partner cut into it and it was cooked to absolute perfection. So credit where credit belongs, he said it was one of the best pieces of filet he had eaten in a long time. Great quality meat and beautifully cooked. You could say that saved our night but unfortunately it wasn't good enough and we probably wouldn't come back to dine here again.

this our favourite restaurant when we just like to have a meal out, the service is very quick and friendly, the food is simple and uncomplicated, great pizza. My favourite dish is Gnocchi with seafood sauce which is excellent. One should reserve on Fridays and weekends as it is always busy.

Wir haben bei gutem Wetter drauÃen gegessen. Die Speisekarte war ausgewogen und das Essen insgesamt sehr gut. Der gehobene Preis war der Qualität des Essens angemessen.Was das Erlebnis insgesamt deutlich getrübt hat war die fehlende freundliche Serviceorientierung. Der (anscheinend zumindest) Eigentümer hat kaum etwas gesagt, die Tageskarte wurde einem wortlos hingestellt und noch vor der Bestellung wieder weggeräumt. Es gab keine Empfehlungen zum Essen oder zum Wein. Eine Weinkarte wurde nicht mal angeboten.Ich erwarte, daà man in einem Restaurant dieser Preisklasse freundlicher aufgenommen und bedient wird.Abzüge in der B-Note gibt es auch für das eher billig wirkende Besteck und die lieblose Tischdeko.

Had the penne with eggplant. Very good. Total cost with salad and 2x cola was Euro 21. Has free parking lot in the back, always a plus.Ate there mid-week and it was quiet -- only a few others eating at the same time.
