Excellent steak and my wife had no complaints about her seafood dish. Excellent friendly service with a smile in a traditional setting. Once finished we headed to the hotel front bar which always seems to be a hive of activity.

We held my son's Christening here Saturday 10th February and we all had a great time. We booked the function room which is just to the side of the pub and is very large and has its own bar. We were really looking forward to having the party here but unfortunately the day before the event a lovely lady from Anthony's rang to tell us that the function room would not be suitable as due to the cold weather it would be impossible to heat. We were very disappointed as we had really been looking forward to the function room and were planning to decorate it - not to mention the privacy it would give us! We took the ladies advise however and held it upstairs in the main pub instead. This area was much smaller and can seat maybe 28-30 people. We had 30+ people there but managed to accommodate everyone! We pre-ordered finger food which was chips, onion rings, spring rolls, chicken goujons, wedges, mini sausages etc. This was good value for money and all our guests were happy with the food. We brought the decorations ourselves but the staff offered to put them all up for us. Which brings me to Anthony's best asset- the staff! They were second to none! Julie is a gem. She reassured us and advised us very well. She was warm and professional and outstanding at her job! She was very helpful and made us feel valued as customers. The lady who took care of us on the actual evening of the Christening was also incredible and went out of her way to provide excellent customer service. She flew around all night smiling and joking and making everyone feel at ease. This is a lady who clearly is a very hard worker and Anthony's is lucky to have her! She could not do enough for us and kept checking that I was happy with everything and that everyone was having a good time! This pub has excellent staff and I hope the management know just how good they are. I would definitely and without hesitation recommend Anthony's Inn as a place to hold a family event and we intend to return again soon. They are good value for money with friendly staff and hearthy food - alot more than you would expect to find in such a small village!
