Very friendly staff, the owner Eugenio ( if we remember correctly ) is a nice, friendly guy. He told us he cooks all the meals and he'll prepare it exactly how you want it. The food was delicious, big portions and very affordable. We had a Cuban dish called ropa vieja, another dish was a fish with mushroom sauce, and we shared a huge salad. We ended the meal with slices of fresh watermelon. Delicious!! If you're in Osorno, go check it out. My dad and I went to celebrate the end of a long motorcycle ride. The beef on the brasas - type of grill was outstanding. Dad had medallions (filet) and I had Lomo de Biefe. Really liked the salad where you could help yourself to beets, tomato, heart of palm, spinach w/ dressing. Jorge was our waiter - and really made us feel comfortable.

A wonderful friend and I enjoyed a delightful dinner at Cantarias Restaurant last night. He had the Tuna and it was prepared more like an Ahi Tuna than just a regular one. It was seared but its inside was lightly "pink" and with seasonings similar to those you would hope for on an Ahi.I had Salmon (for those of you who follow my reviews this will be no surprise, right?). It was in wide, thick strips kind of like very thick french fries ... with a very thin crispy honey-glazed texture on the outside but also with an "al dente" cooking within as well as having a honey sauce. Que deliciosa! My friend also selected a lovely Molina/San Pedro Syrah, light but very flavorful and a great accompaniment for both our meals.While our wine was delicious, it was priced somewhat high in comparison with similar wines from similar caliber restaurants. And the wine selection is also limited. But considering Cantarias is a bit remote, maybe this is to be expected.There is very little "pressure" at this restaurant ... meaning that every time I have been there a table was always available. On the other hand it would have been respectful if they had honored our table selection we thought we had reserved. Their staff is much more than friendly, the service quick and informative, and the food very fresh and served very attractively.Tip: get a table facing the lake and forest. Enjoy that gorgeous view! The prices seemed reasonable considering my perceived value of the dining experience. Their facilities are beautiful. And even though their dining room is simple and seemingly Scandinavian efficient, they are very comfortable and inviting.If I had one suggestion it would be that they need to have a written menu. My Spanish is limited and if it were not for my great Chilean friend I may have missed out on some delicious offerings.

Comme on we are talking about a restaurant here and the food is nothing spectacular, it is more of the same in the area, and expensive for that. Service was slow and not well trained, they did not new what they have available in the kitchen but they offer it to you... so, this is a place that need a lot of training and more consistency... way far from 5 dots... I only give 3 dots because the location it is great and beautiful... but this is a restaurant and the food it is in the average.
