We came here for lunch. The lunch menu consists of two starters, four mains and two (three?) desserts. We had an excellent red wine with different starters and mains. The food is mainly locally sourced. An excellent olive oil with bread basket arrived first. A ginger orange soup was next, which was tasty, but much better was my neighbors choice of beetroot, rilettes and roasted hazelnuts, which really shone. Main was beef entrecôte, accompanied by herby mash and diverse root veg. It was quite a lot of meat, so I couldn't finish it. The root veg was tasty, as was the mash, which was benefiting from a lovely olive oil. Dessert was a chocolate mousse with oranges. It was too sweet for my taste, and I was happy I could switch it for my neighbors cassis and apricot sorbet. If you have the chance try the sorbet - it has a fantastic texture, almost creamy. All in all a very pleasant dinner, although you have to be able to afford the prices.

If ever consider to spent few days in a beautiful German country side you should definitely visit this established. Two hundred years old hotel offer everything what you need if you want to go back in time, staff is extremely friendly and even if they will not understand exactly what you want they will do everything to make you happy. Adorable place worth of visit and what a dinner we had!!!!! There was everything absolutely you could not eat all of it, I hope I will be back there one day. There is a parking space for guests and it takes about an hour to get there from Hamburg airport. Enjoy!!!!!

We just celebrated my husband's 60th birthday at the gourmet restaurant No 4 in Buxtehude's Navigare Hotel. The evening was an absolute success and met our very high expectations in every little detail. Everyone in our party of 20 just loved Jens Rittmeyer's 9-course gourmet dinner, which amazingly satisfied us completely without overfilling us. The 9 courses were extremely cleverly combined so that each and every dish was pure enjoyment and yet the one following was better than the previous one. We ate wonderful things such as an essence of violet carrots, which as Mr. Rittmeyer explained, was a reduction of 15kgs of carrots!! The first climax was a ravioli stuffed with a type of crab (Kaisergranat) served with a prawn stock. As a very down-to-earth break, the next course was simply blueberry bread with butter and herbs ... but oh, what bread!! And how cleverly done, bringing us all down a bit for more culinary wonders to enjoy. The two main courses were hake, then duck - both out of this world!! And we even had room for two yummy desserts that again were a pleasure for the palate without being at all filling. The service throughout the evening was impeccable, extremely attentive without disturbing anyone in any way. Admittedly, this was a prearranged dinner but we've eaten in No 4 and in Seabreeze, the hotel's A la Carte Restaurant, before and were just as content. Living locally, we haven't stayed at the hotel ourselves, but friends and business associates have; and everybody has always been entirely satisfied. The Sunday brunch is fantastic as well, and judging from that, we expect their breakfast buffet to be similar. As locals, we are delighted to have a gourmet chef like Jens Rittmeyer just down the road from us! And in case, you are traveling from further afield, don't hesitate to plan a detour - the Navigare, its two restaurants and quaint little Buxtehude in the Altes Land are well worth a visit!
