Erfurt (German pronunciation: [ˈɛʁfʊʁt] ( listen)) is the capital and largest city in the state of Thuringia, central Germany. It lies in the southern part of the Thuringian Basin, within the wide valley of the Gera river. It is located 100 km (62 mi) south-west of Leipzig, 300 km (186 mi) south-west of Berlin, 400 km (249 mi) north of Munich and 250 km (155 mi) north-east of Frankfurt. Together with neighbouring cities Weimar and Jena it forms the central metropolitan area of Thuringia with approximately 500,000 inhabitants.

it doesn't look like much from the outside- very average cafe maybe - but the pastrami sandwich was so exceptional i went back the next day to get it again. try the sweet potato fries. trust me

This cute restaurant is located in the historic center of Erfurt behind the "Krämerbrücke". It's passionately managed. The furniture and food is somewhat in french style. The menu changes every week depending on the seasonal fresh products. There is a selection of starters, small dishes, bigger main courses and also homemade cakes. And every time I was eating there it was really delicious.

The Restaurant is actually within the Mercure Hotel in the Altstadt (old town) (Trip adviser please note it is no longer the Dorint Hotel!) but has its own external entrance and clearly operates as a stand alone restaurant. Normally Mercure Hotels only offer fairly basic restaurants but this one in Erfurt is certainly an exception and offers quite a varied menu specialising in the local Thuringian cuisine. The menu includes an excellent selection of regional dishes along with a set menu and A la Carte. My wife enjoyed a delicious Calves Liver with sauteed onions and mashed potatoes and I had a regional Beef Roulade with a tasty stuffing accompanied with two Thuringian dumplings which were also excellent. The wine list is the pretty standard Mercure offering in Germany but it has lots of interesting German and foreign wines available by the glass (various sizes on offer) so it is easy for every guest to choose their own preferences. The waiter who served us seemed knowlegable and friendly and recommended some reasonably priced wines that he felt would best accompany the dishes. Many of the a la carte dishes had their own individual wine recommendations. We shared an excellent pear and walnut strudel for dessert served with caramel ice cream and a compote of berries. We also had our five year old grandson with us and he greatly enjoyed his (three!) Bratwurst that came with lots of fresh vegetables and potatoes and the excellent ice cream that followed. (Much above the usual mediocre and tedious childrens menus that appear in most restaurants!) All in all an excellent reasonably priced meal with nice friendly service.

Das Personal echt flink und zuvorkommend und liebevoll. Die gereichten Speisen waren Topp !!Die Preise sind gehoben, aber für die Qualität der Speisen gerechtfertigt.

Die Location ist einfach toll, die Atmosphäre im Hinterhof sehr gemütlich. Sind zufällig auf das Nerly gestoÃen und sofort eingekehrt. Der Service war einfach nur Top! Der junge Kellner sehr smart und auf Zack. Die Pommes waren ein Traum :-) Wir würden aufjedenfall wieder kommen.
