Amecameca (formally Amecameca de Juárez) is a town and municipality located in the eastern panhandle of Mexico State between Mexico City and the Iztaccíhuatl and Popocatépetl volcanos of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. It is located on federal highway 115 which leads to Cuautla, which is called the Volcano Route (Ruta de los Volcanes). This area is popular with weekend visitors from Mexico City, Puebla and Morelos to enjoy the scenery of the mountains, eat local foods, visit the Sanctuary of the Señor del Sacromonte, the Panoaya Hacienda and other attractions. However, when Popocatépetl is active, tourism here drops dramatically. The area receives a large number of visitors during the annual Carnival/Festival del Señor del Sacromonte, which extends over the week containing Ash Wednesday and is considered to be one of the most important festivals in Mexico State.

We just came back from an afternoon lunch and we had the best culinary experience ever. I ordered the ‘gustacion de temporada’ and my wife the ‘gustacion de verdura’. These are about 10 different, I lost count, small plates each incredibly special and delicious. A very nice touch is that they bring you into the kitchen to see the preparation of 2 which are 5 star Michelin quality and beyond, never tasted something like that. The service is excellent, very friendly and welcoming. Come here when you have all the time available to enjoy the experience, this is something you cannot rush, enjoy.Dear Pbode:We are delighted to read that you had an amazing experience with us. We are extremely happy to know that our services and food contributed to a unique stay. Our Chef Pepe Salinas, has created a menu that enhances the flavors of Contemporary Mexican cuisine. We are glad that you enjoyed it.As you mention, the view is dramatic, having one of our menus is a whole experience! Glad to know you enjoyed it. It was sung by many, notably by Carlos Gardel, the king of tango. You will see the picture of Gardel in many places, particularly in the menu. You walk in the Oasis Coyoacan, one of the newer Plaza in Mexico CDMX, and go right to the end. As you approach, you will see a pool with cascadas and then you will see that there is a fountain. There is a show every hour and it is worth seing. To your left, the restaurant. As you enter, a reception area. If you do not have a reservation, you have to sign in and wait outside. And wait you will. This restaurant is usually full to capacity. If you have a reservation, a wise habit to have when going to this type of restaurant, The maitre D will take you to your table. At first glance, this is obviously an expensive restaurant. The decor is magnificent. Our table was in the smoking area (there is a non smoking area as well) right by the window and with a view of the outside. The menu is very complete, with prices such as you would expect. There are many wines, mostly fromArgentina since this is an argentinian restaurant. The service is of course first class. The waiters are discreet but always (or nearly always) available. We started with a consomme Adelita for two of the guests and followed it with a platter of Iberico puro de bellota simiar to but not like the Pata Negra that I usually eat. It did not have that nutty taste of the Pata Negra and the fat did not completely melt on the tongue. The platter was a whopping 760 pesos or 12.00 US per person. The main course followed. Mirta had 2 spinach empanadas, I had a 200 gr filet mignon, Marco had an 800gr arrachera (skirt steak) and Beatriz had a bife de chorizo (sirloin strip steak). What did not please me was that those plates came naked. You had to pay 95 pesos for potato puree and another 95 pesos for creamed spinach. We also had a jar of wine, cider and fruit. This is called Clericot and is similar to Sangria. That was the meal and it cost a little over 4,000 pesos. It was good but not wow. But I guess that some one has to pay for the decor. Mind you, if you have the money, it is worth it as was testified by a full room.

I can’t say enough about this place. We loved the food—every bite—and enjoyed the staff, every one of which knew all about the dishes they were serving. My wife had the mole enchiladas and I had the chipotle “hongo” enchiladas. Both were excellent; but the appetizers were the pinnacle of our dinner: their special cheese dish (called “Ocosingo” or something like that and the “mixto” ceviche. They served us three different salsas that were unique and uncommonly tasty. Everything was just scrumptious. We’ll be back!

Every single bite of everything was just out of this world. If you get to Mex City, make a point to go there. Truly. Surprisingly reasonable, and utterly delicious. Service is impeccable. There were 3 of us, and they bring all the entrees as covered plates, and had 3 waiters open them all on the same exact cue, with a flourish.I only eat salmon on occasion as I find the taste a bit strong, quickly tire of it, but they give you a tasting spoon of minced salmon with herbs that I could have sat there and eaten a full bowl of it and been in nirvana. I have never tasted salmon that good, and I've had it prepared all sorts of ways. The Oysters Rockefeller, I don't know what they sauteed the spinach in but it's enough to make you hover above the table on wings. Best spinach in my life, where the oysters were secondary, though tender and lovely, and the spinach was king.Escargot, plump, juicy and tender, in garlicky butter with herbs and spices. The Beef Wellington was perfectly cooked, in a tender moist pastry, tender potatoes, but the gravy/sauce, oh my. Exquisite. I don't know what it was made with, but it was superb. I could have eaten a bowl of it with a spoon. It was our friend's birthday, so they brought her a piping hot lemon souffle that had to have been concocted by angels, we all had a taste, and of course, about 6 men sang for her.Violin and piano, beautiful music, romantic, and not overwhelming. Just beautiful.Incredible food, incredible service, beautiful atmosphere.Wherever you stay in Mx Cty, it's worth the cab fare, trust me. I've eaten a lot of good food down here, but we all agreed, it would be our go-to spot anytime we were in town. Unfailingly.

I ate there without reservation. You really need 2hr to finish dishes. You better go there with empty stomach. I didn't eat this good in England. Beef might be their first choice but I recommend not the first dish on menu. In Mexico lunch start 1PM or later. And this restaurant close on Sundays. And I believe you need 1000peso or more there.
