Find out what Grill restaurants to try in Taunton. Taunton /ˈtɔːntən/ is a large regional town in Somerset, England. The town currently peaks at a population of 69,570 as of 2018. The town itself has over 1,000 years of religious and military history, including a monastery dating back to the 10th century and Taunton Castle, which has origins in the Anglo Saxon period and was later the site of a priory. The Normans then built a stone structured castle, which belonged to the Bishops of Winchester. The current heavily reconstructed buildings are the inner ward, which now houses the Museum of Somerset and the Somerset Military Museum.

Wellington Squash Club played host to Abergavenny this evening and we held our post match dinner at the Skewerhouse. From first contact with the restaurant to leaving the door they were faultless. Great food, great service, great communication, I highly recommend a visit.

Went for food with friends, group of 3 couples , our table was booked for 7.30. We arrived early so had a cocktail in the bar, the barman was great and picked the right cocktail for us!! Then The host took us to the table and introduced Lydia who looked after us all evening. She was lovely and had abit of a laugh with us. It was a busy evening but had a great atmosphere and you could see other tables sat enjoying themselves we hadnât realised how long weâd been sat chatting as it was so nice. The food was also great I went for the chicken kebab which had a bit of a kick, Lydia was happy to swap the fries for sweet potato fries and make hubbys sea dog plain. The others all enjoyed there burgers , we were all to full for desserts so canât comment but starters, mains and cocktails were all great and the customer service even better. Having been given some Sheppy's vouchers for my birthday, I emailed them to see if I could use them in their Apple Bay Restaurant and Bar, a prompt reply said that I could.So finally agreeing a date with my daughter and son, the three of us, booked a table for a Friday night.When we arrived at the restaurant, we liked the slightly quirky feel and comfortable ambience. The two members of staff who served us ,throughout the evening, were professional, welcoming and friendly.All the food, we had was very good , Starters - crab cakes, ham hock/chicken terrine and mushroom soup(gluten-free bread) for my daughter. Mains battered haddock and two excellent steaks. We shared a cheeseboard , to finish, loved the selection.Throughout the night, we tried various ciders from the Sheppy's range and like the food we weren't disappointed with them.Thanks to the vouchers, we have found a restaurant, that we all agreed will be revisited again.Hello SomersetKeithers,Thank you for leaving us such a good review.
