...I found the place spotless, with a nice setting and with an assortment of only (almost) fish food.We were looking for herrings, a supposed specialty of the territory but since the morning we had only seen the ubiquitous pizza&burger stuff.Here we found a very ample FISH assortment: Cod, mussels, crab, and, of course, herring.I witness the oscillating proice policy: to clients before me ordered some fried mussels and chips and may be some other and were charged 35 â¬, which in my opinion would be totally unjustified. As per the microwave oven, unfortunatly yhis is becoming a common practice in many places, BUT IT IS ABSOLUTLY IN CONTRAST WITH FRIED FOOD: the results are always terrible. Try to use agrill or a toaster, it may warm the food without destrying taste, appearance and feeling!I took two fillets of herring and paid 3â¬: not the cheapest but still Volendam looks as a perfect tourist trap and it is sometimes difficult just to stroll on the main road so locals must take advantage.Oh, yes, the herring was properly served with garlic and cucumber, was very tasty and I enjoyed it. Nor I had any digestive problems afterwards.I was not aware of any unhealthy practice (money and food with same hands, no gloves...). I suggest the manager to keep an eye on these "practices" and be sure that even temporary staff do abide by the rules.

This restaurant was convenient for us since it is across the street from the bus stop.The building has a large restaurant/party room on one side for catered events. The other side is smaller and has a relaxed pub décor.We ordered several sweet Dutch pancakes and savory pancakes to share. It was the first time we tried a shrimp kroket, not bad but we still prefer the meat versions. The pancakes are as big as dinner plates. All of these items can be paired with a nice cold beer, hot cup of tea or soda.Service was good, prices were reasonable.

We tried some of the fish dishes and they were great, we enjoyed our meal watching the seafront and the seagulls trying to steal our food. Very clean and delicious, perfect for a quick bite.

Tomato soup, salad, and a drink for about 10'euros. Good tomato soup. Good variety of salads and sandwiches. Courses are prepared on the moment. Take-away is possible. Definitely a very good quality-cost ratio.Mostly frequented by locals, tourists are quite a few. Staff is mainly composed of youngsters who are kind and helpful with the Dutch-written menu. Definitely advisable for a quick and tasty snack or meals.

We stopped here during a tour of the Holland countryside and were not disappointed. Simple food done right. Fries were excellent. And at these prices were could order things without knowing what they were and not worry about it. Some things we loved; others were so-so -- but we were glad we got to try them! Friendly people here, even to American tourists.

Visited late in afternoon but the fish specially the cod and salmon were amazing and too much of chips clean and Hygiene place with fast and helpful staff.
