Had a fantastic time in here last week with my wife. The Beef Cheek and Pork Belly are the best I've had anywhere.Staff are incredibly courteous and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Couldn't partake in any cocktails on that occasion but they looked great and the table behind us kept ordering more, so they were obviously good!Well worth a visit.

Myself and 5 friends visited Sophia's while staying in a beautiful log cabin. One of the group had visited Sophia's earlier in the year and recommended it. We ordered chicken wings and were told that there was only 2 portions available (7.00 p.m.!!) Cost was €5.90 for 3 chicken wings - €2 per wing quite extortionate!! Also meatballs (3) for €5.90!!! One of the party ordered Chicken Cordon Bleu and the middle of the chicken was raw!! Canneloni was also very disappointing. We gave chicken back but only the waitress came back to apologise!! They redeemed themselves by not charging for the undercooked chicken meal and cut €40 off the meal. All in all very disappointing meal.

We popped in for an early dinner on Saturday night. Great service from the get-go - friendly, welcoming and prompt. Though the restaurant is clearly popular and therefore very busy, the waiting staff managed to glide around the place unflustered and there in a trice when needed. We had duck and lamb - beautifully cooked and melt in the mouth. Good to see local Cavan produce on the menu. Baked Alaska for dessert - what a treat - you can't find that anywhere on a menu. Great wine choices too. Even though we knew the table was needed back for second sitting, there was no pressure to hurry us out the door - all in all a really great experience in every way. We will definitely be back for more!

Angler's Rest

We had a lovely meal at the Anglers Rest... The steaks were amazing, helped down by a delicious bottle of Wakefield River Shiraz. The accommodation could be so much better... No shampoo, shower gel, hair dryer... However the bed was very comfortable. Bringing ear plugs is a must... The lorries passing down the main street are constant. Breakfast disappointing... No fresh fruit and all the usual extras that you'd expect for the price. We'll definitely be back for steak though.Hello JMcClements,Thank you for sharing your thoughts on your recent visit. We are glad that you had a lovely meal with us. However, we apologise if your breakfast was not up to scratch as you expected it to be. Rest assured we will take your suggestion on board so we can further improve our service. We are excited to welcome you back soon!Kind regards,Angler's Rest

We stayed in Butlersbridge for one night and everyone told us to eat here, and so we did! The interior is great, the staff is friendly, and the menu offers a lot, although it's rather expensive compared to most other places we had dinner at.My parents absolutely loved their dinner, and their first course was really great. My Burger was okay, and Dad's steak was also good. The soup, however, was fantastic and I abolutely loved my dessert!
