Rhenen ( pronunciation (help·info)) is a municipality and a city in the central Netherlands. The municipality also includes the villages of Achterberg, Remmerden, Elst and Laareind. The town lies at a geographically interesting location, namely on the southernmost part of the chain of hills known as the Utrecht Hill Ridge (Utrechtse Heuvelrug), where this meets the river Rhine. Because of this Rhenen has a unique character with quite some elevation through town.

The pancakes are fantastic, there is nothing bad to say about that. The staff however, in my opinion, is sometimes plain rude. I often went here right after a zoo visit and usually arrived just a few minutes before opening time. I totally understand that you won't be served until opening time, however as staff is arriving they could greet me, instead I often get silence or even worse: 'we're not open yet!'. Geez, good way to welcome your guests who are patiently waiting for you to open.When they do open it just takes a long time for even a plane pancake to come out. I understand the more involved pancakes take more time, but when I order a plane one it really shouldn't take much more than a few minutes.

We've been to the Zoo several times throughout the years and though it is a nice zoo, it has nothing really appealing. Let's say it's just not one of my favourites. There is a big overhead playground for kids though that is very nice.

We had a great dinner at this nice restaurant. Something went wrong when ordering the mean course but Emma and Arjan quickly responded and we were happy to accept a free drink as compensation for the mistake. Our mains arrived a bit later but were worth the wait. Overall a very pleasant experience!

We had a christmas dinner party from work. Dining rooms were really pretty. Dimmed colored light. Good atmosphere. Bubbled (sweet) on entrance. I prefer brut instead. Buffet for dining. I had a good experience with the service. Food tasted good too.

Very nice restaurant with lovely food and drinks.I recommend the mixed starters and the port.Also the Halibut fish was super soft, juicy and tasty.Just right.

The place, location and view is indeed very nice. And I went in a good weather day, with lots of activities in the river (5min distance). But the service is Ok (not bad but also not Wow). And the food was better when it was TanteLoes. And...what kind of meat do they use in the hamburgers? It tastes like sh... and it was full of ketchup. Next time better? Perhaps, if there is a next time. Pity, i used to like a lot this place...

This restaurant is one of the best in the region. We had the first asparagus of the season here and they were great.. Also the bouillabaise was delicious as well as the filet americain of beef..The ambiance is modern/chique, the service is very well and the wines are lovely.Highly recommended!! Make a reservation in advance, you will need it to be seated!

I had visited Kalkoentje several years ago and had more or less forgotten about is. But when a friend invited me to his birthday celebration there I was very surprised! Excellent food and wine, in various original presentations. Outstanding service, attending to the special needs of some of the guests. I absolutely will be back!

I was very disappointed from the student dinner (15⬠for 3 courses). Having a look at the menu, it looks very nice, but the three courses for students were a big disappointment. To begin with, the courses we got are not available on the menu itself. The best course was the soup, unfortunately not more than three sips. As a maincourse, we got a hamburger, with low-quality meat (kind of a Frikandel) and a very small portion of fries. The vegetarian option was some kind of puff-pastry with a bit of cale. The dessert was a slice of pink gelee. All in all, this was unfortunately not even worth the 15⬠we paid. It seems to be a good restaurant and I am sure the food might be better, but I wouldn't go back there and would not recommend to take the student dinner.
