We ate at the restaurant the first night we arrived in Tumbler Ridge and it was so empty we were not sure it was even open. The food was OK but the server really did not seem all that interested in us and we ate elsewhere for the next 4 days.

Friendly service and great food -- this is an excellent place for casual dining. They offer many gluten-free options as well. Every dish I have tried here (and I've eaten here a lot) has been flavorful. These guys are great cooks and offer great selections from breakfast to dinner, with lunch and snacks in between.

Although we were staying at another hotel we were attending a conference in this hotel and the folks from Western Steakhouse did all the catering. It was excellent and after the conference we came back for dinners here. Good food, prompt friendly service, nice decor, everything you could ask for while enjoying your meal.

My daughter and I attended the store in the morning, there was one employee working, there was about 4 people ahead of us. We waited patiently about 15 minutes to be served which we understood as there were no other employees that we could see. When it was our turn (no one was waiting behind us) we both advised of the sandwiches we wanted and we both wanted the sandwiches toasted. She got them ready and put them in the toaster oven. As they toasted, she asked us if we wanted any drinks, cookies or chips? We got our drinks, and she told me a total for our order, I paid with my debit card. She then went back to finish the sandwiches with the toppings. We went through what toppings, but when I asked for the guacamole, she said no, I didnt pay for it. I advised we both wanted on our sandwiches, so I pulled out cash and let her know I could pay for it with cash thinking it was a dollar or something? She said, "No, there is no button to add it now, so we couldn't have it." I sort of laughed and said, I have cash, I'll pay the difference? She said there was no way to add it now. I asked why she rang the total through if there could be more charges? There was no one behind us, so it wasnt like she was saving time? She admitted she made a mistake but was absolutely not willing to do anything to fix it! I was flabbergasted, if I'd have been thinking I should have asked her to avoid my order and give me my money back but we had been waiting for over twenty minutes by that time and my daughter was hungry. Horrible service, and the Asian lady working the counter was completely indifferent and could not be bothered to give any solution. I worked at a fast food chain when I was 14 and can't imagine ever treating a customer this way. Apparently she knows there are not many options in Tumbler Ridge as they would not be in business otherwise.
