Our tour bus of 54 passengers stopped for lunch on a Sunday at this particular A&W situated in the proximity of a mall that was closed. The staff had a hard time taking so many orders from the tour group along with other travellers. What was particularly annoying was that they only had one bathroom in working order and needless to say there were many diners scattering in search of loos elsewhere. The food is pretty standard as expected.

There are not a lot of choices in Port Hardy so Subway is a good choice

Stopped in Port Hardy for a quick overnight visit and found our way to the Quarterdeck Pub for some cold ones and appies. Ordered the calamari which was delicious and nicely plated and presented. Very impressed with the large portion of tzatziki sauce which accompanied the order as we usually have to ask for extra because we always run out, but not this time!! We also order the Thai Sweet Chili chicken wings which had plenty of sauce on them and very delicious. Food was good and enjoyable and friendly waitress.

My wife and I had dinner here one evening after receiving a couple of recommendations from locals. It's really not much to look at from the outside, but don't let that put you off as the food is really excellent, as are the views. There's a restaurant downstairs and a pub upstairs that also serves food from the same menu. We ate downstairs in the restaurant as the pub upstairs was quite noisy on the day we visited. My wife had ribs and I had a salmon fillet. Both were excellent, as was the service. Highly recommended.

We were pleasantly surprised by the attention to detail both in the presentation and service in the pub. The art work in the foyer and the gift store is amazing and worthy of a visit to any one exploring the area. Our server Sebrina was lovely and the Hunter's platter which included an assortment of cheeses, duck, elk sausage, and bluberry compote wasthe best we have tasted anywhere! So was the Halibut chowder! We are looking forrward to returning and trying other offerings next visit.

This is a nice, central place for lunch. It's spotlessly clean, the staff are very friendly and welcoming, even the local's are friendly and engaged me in conversation! The meal sizes are quite 'Canadian' (big!) so you won't go hungry.I had the Denver sandwich & thought that $10 was a bit pricey for a sandwich... but this is actually quite a big meal: Two slabs of delicious wholemeal bread, fried egg, melted cheese, spring onions & a beef pattie... served with plenty of chips!I would highly recommend this cafe if you're in Port Hardy.

Ha'me' Restaurant

I'd like to think of Ha'Me as an up-and-coming must-visit spot. We'd never been in the north island and discovered that after 8pm there was nearly nothing open. It was serendipity to find Ha'me' restaurant - it's off-season and we were the only just-before-closing guests. The food is Canadian/ European with a definite local twist and flavour that they will be expanding upon. Our server was friendly, helpful and thoughtful: I was so grateful that she brought me a booklet about the art when she saw I was interested. Spouse and I shared a bowl of seafood chowder - hot, hearty and delicious. While I had the salmon and risotto, the spouse was not very hungry and had the 'salmon 3 ways'. Everything was tasty... there was a little unevenness to my meal: the risotto was a little wet and bland, the chef thought that the salmon might be slightly overdone and offered to cook a new one, and my veg arrived a few minutes later than my meal. Was the salmon overdone? A little - but some folks (my folks) would prefer it that way and the un-requested offer of replacement shows dedication to getting it right. My meal was was hot, fresh and tasty. I ordered a glass of the house white - a indigenous-winery-made blend that was rich and buttery like chardonnay... perfect for wandering around and REALLY looking at the great art around the room. This was a find. I judge experience and value - and I found both here. I know they are ironing out the rough edges, but it's pretty darn great. I'll be back.

We have had the pleasure of eating here numerous times and have never been disappointed. We can enjoy everything on the menu and not have to run home in a hurry. It is possibly the cooking oil or the very clean grill either way it is a pleasure. We have enjoyed the food so much we had them cater our 50th anniversary combination 70th birthday party. The food was fabulous, fed 60 plus and had leftovers for lunch on the beach the following day. We highly recommend the “Fire Chefs” Marty & Sharon.

We ate here one evening while staying outside Port Hardy. The place was very busy and pretty noisy but we were seated pretty quickly. My wife had a steak sandwich and I had a pizza with a beer. The pizza was a little burned so just OK and my wife's sandwich was good. We split some ice cream for dessert. Our bill came to about $53 w/o tip and the service was very good. There are fairly limited choices in Port Hardy and I would give the place another shot if I was in the area.
