Our innkeeper recommended BlackRock as the place to go in town if you preferred your food NOT fried. When we arrived for dinner, the restaurant was bustling, and we were lucky to get the last free table. Multiple parties without reservations were turned away after us. Perhaps because they were so busy, we had to wait a bit for the food to arrive (some fellow diners were definitely getting restless). But our meals were excellent. One other note: the dining room was decidedly over air conditioned and we needed jackets.

This restaurant was very busy when we arrived. Our waitress wasnt very friendly & as soon as she passed us our menus... she announced that they ran out of turkey, sweet potatoes, lobster & their famous seafood chowder.. which was what my daughter & had planned to order. My husband was going to order a club sandwich & without turkey, that wasnt possible. We all ordered the fish & chips & i had mashed potatoes instead of fries. The battered haddock was very bland & the mashed potatoes had zero taste & were dry! My daughter said the fries were just ok.Overall, we were disappointed because we heard nothing but good things about this restaurant. Perhaps they were overwhelmed with being so busy. Nonetheless, first impressions are important, & running out of food is not good! We wont be back.

This maple syrup producer (better than Quebecs's!) offers a pancake experience in the spring that is wonderful. Their opening means that warmer weather is causing the sap to flow and winter is on its way out. I always order the lumberjack special; pancakes, sausages, maple baloney, home made bread and baked beans. They also provide other maple based products for sale, e.g. syrup, candy, butter and barbeque sauce.
