La Castile Steak & Seafood

Let me start with what disturbed me from the beginning before even eating their food. Their washroom had only cold water. I realize there are those that do not care about that, as some people do not wash their hands after going to the washroom, but I do care about that. Now on to the food. We went there to celebrate someone's birthday and travelled quite a distance to go there. What a mistake. I normally love garlic bread but theirs was just alright. The onion soup was one of the worst a few of us said they had ever eaten. The salad was drenched in the blue cheese dressing I had. 2 of us ordered the bigger size prime rib to have dinner for a second night.  Each was a huge piece of meat that unfortunately lacked the juiciness and great taste we experienced elsewhere. Then the part that really angered me. I left over the asparagus and red pepper to have the next day with my leftover prime rib and fries. The waiter took our plates and when I opened the container the next day, the asparagus and red pepper I saved were NOT there. How can someone mess up transferring food from a plate to a container to take home? One person had the dover sole. She was asked if she wanted the bones removed. They took the large piece of fish and came back with practically nothing. Our guess is that instead of going through the work of removing the bones, they instead went the lazy route and chopped off any part that could have bone. It was $52 for a dismal small piece of fish.  The virgin strawberry daiquiri tasted like strawberry juice not real strawberries mixed in a blender. Also worst we ever had. We did NOT risk having a dessert. All 4 in my party felt the food was inferior to other restaurants and obviously we will not be going back there again.UPDATE: I contacted them about throwing out the asparagus and red pepper and they said they would reimburse me.  Faye, someone I was led to believe was a manager,  said about refunding me the price of those items.  I felt that as I had only a few fries left to eat with my 2nd dinner even though I had purposely saved my asparagus and red pepper, they were being cheap and unfair.  They said they would decide what to give me and get back to me the next day.  They did NOT contact me back the next day.  Today, on a $350 bill paid, they reimbursed $5. That is not a typo.  I couldn't believe how disgusting they are.  They gave back LESS than the cost of asparagus and red pepper and nothing for ruining my 2nd dinner.  It is not their fault I wanted it for 2 meals.  That is why I ate NO asparagus or red pepper night 1 so I could have them with the 2nd meal, since the first night I had the soup and salad. It IS their fault they threw out what they did and reimbursing me $5 is truly unbelievable.  In summary, the food is barely ok and definitely worse than other places at their price point.  Their customer service is below par, lying about even reimbursing the cost of what they threw out. They can't be trusted to put your leftovers in a container, which is amazing to me.  Stay away from this lousy establishment.  We wish we had.

First time here, quaint little place with rustic decor and a nice patio. Food is solid.Appetizers-- the mixed charcuterie antipasto is beautifully presented, and the calamari is crisp and tender. The meatballs have a great marina sauce that's not too acidic.Mains-- pizzas were thin-crusted and yummy. The pasta del mare had ample seafood and the shrimps were plump. The smoked duck carbonara was rather bland and the sauce was definitely not the egg-based carbonara i was expecting-- it was more like and olive oil sauce. Veal marsala was just ok-- again, on the bland side. Desserts-- The lava cake was really good and the tiramisu had good amaretto flavour. Better than average cappuccino too. Bonus-- you can get vicinity points at this place!Service was kind and attentive throughout. This is definitely one of the better Italian places around!

Pasta dishes were ok, nothing spectacular to rave about. Really disappointed with their toffee pudding. It was so dry that it seems that it was over-microwaved. Service was good and friendly though that’s why I’m giving it a 3 rating. If it wasn’t for the service, I probably would have given a 2 rating. Will we return? Unfortunately, no.

This was our last lunch stop before leaving Canada at the end of our vacation. We arrived after the traditional lunch hour on a Friday and it was pretty busy. The service and food were very good. They serve traditional bar food with interesting twists either on flavor or cheese options. I liked that you can substitute the hand cut fries for different salad options for an additional charge.

Visited on Thursday September 12th with a group of 12 people. Restaurant was very busy so we anticipated slow service. However it was beyond slow. We received our drink order in about 20 minutes then waited for another 20 minutes to place our food order. After arriving at the restaurant at 6.30 pm we did not receive our food until after 8.00 pm. My wife and I had the special... crepes with tenderloin tips and a mushroom sauce. There was one crepe with about three small pieces of tenderloin. The only vegetable was a very small dish of lettuce.By the time our group had finished the main course there was no time for us to order coffee and desserts. To add insult to injury many of the bills were incorrect. It took my wife and I three tries to get a correct bill.Sorry Apricot Tree. Your kitchen could not cope with the number of customers there.

Does it get any better? (The answer is no!)The open kitchen means the chef chats with you and can answer questions about the food while it is prepared (the chef sings along with their great sound track too!).Just wish it was closer to home - but totally worth the trip to eat HERE!

It’s been awhile since we have had the opportunity to come here. It has an old fashion charm and elegance with the staff in professional style attire. Large windows in the front section allows for lots of natural light. Very comfortable chairs. The food was cooked to perfection and huge portions. They are always ready with containers for your take away leftovers. I wasn’t hungry enough to have their superb chicken souvlakia. Instead I enjoyed the grilled chicken Caesar salad. Moist chicken topped the nicely dressed salad with soft crunch croutons. The regular sized smoked meat sandwich was huge and everything you would expect. Staff very attentive. A very pleasant experience. Great place for family events, couples or going solo. They will look after you with great food.

The food was absolutely delicious with good sized portions. Our server recommended an appetizer that was incredible and we each enjoyed our entrees very much. For those who enjoy a cocktail, we found ours to be stronger than we would expect, but that's not a complaint. The atmosphere is nice, a little rustic and high end all at once. What a great spot, so glad we found it and can't wait for another chance to go back.Thank you for the 5 Star Review. We cant wait to have you back. We are thrilled that you had Great Service, Great Food and Great Ambiance.
