We waited for over an hour for a pizza with very lttle service in an empty restaurant we even had to go and get our own water refill with 3 servers doing absolutley nothing but trying to figure out the computer system When we finally got our food with not a word of why it was taking so long it was not even close to the pizza we had ordered (we ordered a pepperoni and got CHICKEN???) . This crappy service has happened to us previously with one time when we pre ordered so our food would be ready as we had our 3 year old grand daughter with us only to find out again with zero heads up that the waitress had not put our order in and waited an hour. This is a crappy restaurant with zero service. We went there as it has been closed due to a flood and attempted to support their reopening of a local business. They can bite me. NEVER AGAIN JUST LOST 6 PEOPLES BUSINESS.

Sunday afternoon ride for lunch. We were greeted by a friendly clerk and perused the blackboard menu. We decided on one of their "dawgs" and were pleased with the food quality and service. Our sandwich was a Nathan's hot dog with pulled pork and lots of cheese on a bagel bun. The sandwich comes with chips. The food was tasty and hot. I had iced tea that was sweet and she had berry tea that was infused with fresh berries! Delicious! This is a storefront cafe with outdoor dining if you desire. MANY board games line the walls and can be played in the establishment. New games are also available for purchase. Good, atmosphere, food and service. Orders are taken at the counter and delivered to your table

Went on a Thursday night and started with the calamari. The cilantro aioli was thick, delicious and plentiful, perfectly complimenting the calamari. We then had the evening special, which was the fish tacos. Tequila slaw, grilled nectarine salsa, and perfectly cooked battered fish all paired beautifully on 3 tacos. Presented beautifully and tasted even better. This will become our go to restaurant whenever in Grand Forks.

Stopping in at "Yakky Jacquies" was one of the better brekkies we enjoyed in our fair share of cafe breakfasts during 3 weeks of vacation travels this summer... All the casual antiquey country items on display, and the pairs of ceramic salt pepper shakers - different pair at each table -BREAKFASTEggs were served exactly as ordered, Toast was perfect (we opted for rye toast), Coffee was served hearty and refilled often - exactly as cafe coffee should be... And the HASH BROWNS - they were the absolute bomb!!!! - when my gal says this was a breakfast that reminds her of her mom's cooking - it has been paid the highest compliment..PRICEPrices for our breakfasts were very reasonable And yes, - Jaqcquie is yakky - in a most pleasant way - we had a wonderful conversation We will definitely return next time we are through Grand Forks.

We went in on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. I had their burger and fries. The fries were fresh cut and tasty, but could have been crispier. The burger was undercooked, bland and seemed like a packaged patty rather than homemade. My partner had a chimichanga, which looked glorious, but was doughy. Service was fine, beer was cold. We probably won't be back for a while.

We looked forward to eating at this tapas style restaurant during the week we stayed at Christina Lake. We cooked our meals at our rented cottage but decided to treat ourselves for a birthday. We had scouted it prior and the reviews sounded great. We arrived at about 4:30ish. and were the only ones there and decided to eat outside on the patio. There were 6 or 7 items on the tapas menu plus salads, flat-breads and other main courses.. Our very pleasant server came over and advised that 3 of the tapas were not available as the deliver truck did not arrive. Although disappointed as 2 of them would have been dished we would have ordered we still thought there was enough on the menu that sounded good. We ordered 2 of their specialty sangrias and looked over the menu. The server brought our drinks and told us that unfortunately a piece of equipment had broken and that they would comp our drinks and could still serve some of the tapas if we wanted at half price but they could not serve anything else. We were disappointed but as there was not too much else in the area to choose at that time we decided to stay. We ordered the cheese ravioli in marinara sauce and the goat cheese/bacon truffles rolled in pistachios with warm pita bread. The sangrias were not what we expected and did not taste that good ( but they were comp'd so it was okay) The tapas were really good and we would have looked forward to other dishes if they had them available. They gave you 5 cheese/bacon truffles which was a lot and we ended up taking 2 home because they were so rich. The chef/manager was very nice and apologized profusely for the problems. Unexpected things happen of course. They closed the restaurant down while we were there for the night and he mentioned they would be reopening in a few days. Sadly we were leaving before that but it might have been worth another try. They were quite pre-occupied with closing the kitchen understandable so we had to come inside to pay the bill. I guess they forgot about the 1/2 price offer on the food we ordered because we were charged full price. That was okay because the food was good. Glad they remembered to comp the sangrias though as they were not that great...I guess things are winding down in Christina Lake at the end of the season as many places were either already close the last week of August or were limited in what they had to offer....good to know. Hey folks! I appreciate the kind words in your review and understanding the situation. Just a few things I wanted to note:I immediately remembered half price food after you two had left. I felt terrible about that so my apologies.We actually do ask all our customers to come inside to pay. Our till is a model from the early 80's and our debit machine does not travel that far.Please be sure to remind us of your previous experience next time you are through. We will accomadate half price on any dinner item.Babalooz prides itself on creating an enjoyable memorable ambience and we failed you in that sense. Next time in Christina lake, come on by and we will get that review up to a 5 :)-Sean

Everything is real including the cheese, make sure you order in advance or it could be a 30 minute wait.Lots of interesting 10" pizzas, definitely worth a try.

We ended up at the Station Pub twice over the course of our weekend in Grand Forks, once for a snack and once for a meal. It's not a large place, so it wouldn't take too much to fill it up, but it's cozy, with a great train theme and artifacts.The first night we were there later in the evening, and they were only offering a 'cleanup' menu, which was quite limited. We had a couple of beer, and the garlic ribs, which were excellent. The staff were friendly and offered good service, and the music was very loud, which made it hard to have a conversation. No dance floor, otherwise we would have made use of the music, since we couldn't hear each other :PMy husband noticed that wings on special on Sundays, so we went back again for dinner on Sunday, ordered the ribs again, as well as lemon pepper garlic wings, which we've not noticed on a menu before. The ribs weren't quite as wonderful as the first time, but still pretty good. The wings were very good; I'd get that flavour blend again. Different staff, but still good service, and thankfully the music wasn't quite as loud at dinner time.We'd be happy to eat here again.

Was here for lunch a few days ago on our way home from the Prairies. It was not easy finding perogies/cabbage rolls on this trip. While the Borscht Bowl had the borscht (absolutely delicious), no perogies or cabbage rolls. But, they did have other specialties, the names of which I forget. One I will call a 'giant' perogie which my partner had and really enjoyed.Prices are a bit steep for what you get.

Obviously popular with regulars. Small (there is an outside area though) but menu has plenty of choice. Ate dinner and breakfast here whilst staying at the Lakeview Motel over the road. Very friendly staff and also plenty of local info. Would definitely recommend.
