Had the vegan roast for lunch! Loved it! Great flavour and a beautifully presented bowl. There was a veggie and chicken burger on the menu, along with steak and a couple of salads but that was it! Salads seemed overpriced but everything else was as expected. Would be great to see some sandwich or panini options! However would definitely come back, my food was lovely! My friends ordered steak and chicken burgers and they looked good too, good sized portions!

6 of us called in for a late lunch bar meal, barman friendly and very helpful. Pub itself was cosy with wood beams and flagstone flooring. Menu a little fancier than your usual pub grub but tasty.Limited choices for our coeliac vegetarian diner (had salmon salad-without salmon).Thank you for this lovely review and your kind comments, it is great to hear you enjoyed your visit. I will pass on your comments regarding coeliac vegetarian options to the catering team for consideration for future menus. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future, Kind regards

We went to the globe this evening due to the various recent reviews describing the changes to the menu as everytime we have eaten there before rhe food was horrendous. There are no changes whatsoever, the menu is exactly the same with barely any choices for vegetarians or vegans. Needless to say we went to the Ancient Briton where the food is always excellent.

Dockside bar and grill

A modern European restaurant with a chill out vibe, great service and wonderful food at good prices.

Having just read the reviews for Dockside, I feel that we must have dined at a different restaurant than the other people that have left comments. My husband and I booked a table here, rather than our usual haunt Isabellas, as it was our Wedding anniversary, and thought we should have a change. As a family we eat out once or twice a week, and I had eaten here once before when the restaurant first opened, it was dire, but thought that we should support our locals and give it another chance.Disputes having booked, we were left standing at the bar whilst a table was prepared for us in the corridor leading to the toilet. We waited 30 mins before being asked if we wanted a drink, and then had to wait to be given a wine list. My husband at this point had to persuade me stay. The restaurant was about two thirds full when we arrived.Wine came, without requested olives and jug of water. We had to repeatedly ask for these. The food, when it arrived was beautifully presented, warm and fresh. The wine was delicious. However the kitchen produce is, I feel, being spoilt by front of house. Watching staff move around in a harassed and depressed way, whilst sitting eating in a thoroughfare is not my idea of a relaxing celebratory meal out. This was obviously not the opinion of other visitors to this establishment, but it was ours, and for that reason, I have awarded 2* only.We will not be coming back to Dockside, and most certainly would not recommend to family and friends.Hello SianWe are very sorry you didn't enjoy your night with us on Saturday. We were unaware that you weren't happy with the table situation and would have moved you to a different table if you had made us aware, Our staff on Saturday night were stretched a little thin, there was an issue with one member of our team, but she no longer works for the Dockside, I'm sorry if you felt her attitude spoilt your evening, we pride ourselves in ensuring every customer leaves happy as you can see from the majority of our reviews. On a positive note we are pleased that you enjoyed the food and wine. We would normally offer you a free meal to come back to change your mind but as this is your second visit and you prefer a different type of restaurant we feel this wouldn't be appropriate, we would of course welcome you back anytime but understand that this might not be the right restaurant for you.Thank you for trying us again we do appreciate it and we fully take on your views and have already made improvements to better our customers experience with us.The Dockside

Booked a table and called in for an early evening meal with family. The restaurant was quite quiet initially and we bought some drinks at the bar and were shown to our table. The 2 female waitresses were less than friendly - no rapport with the customers and didn’t know when asked what was in a specific dish - always a little worrying! The waitresses were so unfriendly that I thought we were speaking a different language. When the food arrived, one of the meals was wrong and 2 other meals were missing the portion of rice as described in the menu. So a 5 minute wait for the rice to arrive and a further 5 minutes for the correct meal to arrive. In this time, some of the group had finished their meal.A large party then arrived and the the noise from them made the noise in the room unbearable. We had to ask for the dessert menu twice and when it didn’t arrive after 10 minutes we asked for the bill and left.Food was ok but a really disappointing experience and we wouldn’t return. Keep driving past the Angel to the ‘Prince of Wales’ at Kenfig and you’ll get a better meal and service.

A really nice place with nice friendly staff, the food portions are amazing and better too much than too little, some meals are enough for two, so don't worry if you waste some, they sometimes shut about 9pm so check before you go, you can also book tables and in moderate weather the veranda area is a nice place to sit and drink or eat

We were going to another venue nearby but decided to go to the Jolly Sailor instead and what a result, a locally supported Pub, with a small restaurant, if you wish to go "book". Firstly we were greeted by a very lively and bubbly waitress, who was absolutely fantastic and friendly, her name was Joy, evidently 'Bundles' to those that know her. I had the pie it was absolutely delicious and my wife had the Madras which was equally as delicious. I would recommend this popular pub every time, we even booked another night before we left. For Pubs that do food I only ever give them a 4* rating, but this deserves a 5*s all the time, steeped in history the oldest pub in Porthcawl.Congratulations to Chef and his wife on there new arrival. This is why I love pubs like this you get to know everything. Keep it up and well done.

Friendly staff, quick service and hot food.I try to eat healthily but when visiting Porthcawl chips are always a little treat. The chips were freshly cooked, the Irish curry has such great taste, although the fruity curry also has a wonderful flavour. The lattes are nice although flavoured syrups would be something they could think including on their menu.Overall, great food and good atmosphere.
