Pegeia (also spelt Peyia; Greek: Πέγεια) is a town in the Paphos District of Cyprus. Pegeia is situated mainly on the steep slopes of the coastal hills inland from Coral Bay, at the southern end of the Akamas Peninsula, and it lies 14 km north of Paphos. It has a large population of British ex-pats and a growing number of holiday homes and apartments. In the town centre can be found a town hall, church, police station and several small shops, restaurants and banks. Due to its hillside location many parts of the town offer views over Coral Bay and Paphos.

Children’s party was chaotic and badly organised. The owners weren’t set up at 4pm they had no change or drinks stacked ready for the party just kept disappearing out the back each time a soft drink was ordered totally bizarre. The owner Fred actually was seen leaving the venue shortly before 5pm!Children were in danger running around without adult supervision in the rear car park in a so called Play area which isn’t fenced or sectioned off from the car park!! It’s badly planned cars were reversing with children close by. The play area is poor no protection underneath slide area straight on to horrible gravel. The party was delayed starting should have been at 4pm didn’t get going until 4.40 with a Pirate entertainer. Music wasn’t even Spotify premium had to suffer adverts in background. The food was appalling the worst cheapest food ever! No supervision either it was just grab what you could and it ran out! Kids got pushed out the way if the were polite and queuing. Utterly shambolic if you can’t organise a kids party no wonder your empty 99% of the time! Dear AjlkylaFirstly thank you for taking the time to submit your review, however as per your review in December 2017 you state that we don’t serve wines from Cyprus, when in fact we only stock wines from Cyprus. I Feel this review is also incorrect. For a start the children’s party was held inside the restaurant, and yes pirate pat was running late and as soon as he was ready we called all children in. As for leaving the bar to get drinks this is due to our drinks fridge being out the back, and yes change was running low paying each time for a 1.50 drink with 10 Euros not sure bank of Cyprus could of kept up so yes I went to get change, as for in danger of no adult supervision we never said this was a drop off and leave your children party, your children are your responsibility and from the comments of a lot of people attending the party the kids had a great time and enjoyed the afternoon. As for the food we put out enough food for the children, however some adults helped themselves and got angry when we said the was for the kids. We then made more to feed the ones that didn’t get food. So far as it being cheap that is certainly not the case but we wont get into that. It’s very clear you have an issue with us, for what reason we have no idea. If the party was so bad why have we been asked by a lot of the parents to arrange a kids disco on a regular basis.

We’re fans of authentic Cypriot/Greek cuisine so visited hoping we would get this here. Tatziki was good but not the best I’ve ever had and only a small portion compared to previous times. Kleftiko - lamb fell apart as it should and aside from the usual task of having to separate the fat from the lamb it was very good. Full of taste but lacked some of the aesthetic pleasing by not being served in the traditional clay pot.Portion sizes huge and very friendly service. Didn’t matter at all re: the roadside location as the restaurant and garden are tucked away quite a bit. They also jazzed up some chocolate cake for my friend’s birthday and presented it with a sparkler etc. Very nice touch. Not sure what the “bugs” comment was either - the restaurant is lit by garden lamps which attract insects. Just don’t sit by them?!

From previous notes and descriptions, I was sure this place will be somewhat exceptional with high class cuisine and service, but it was more too pricey bit above average restaurant, that why I guess it was quite empty even at weekend. I feel disappointed, sorry to tell We are sad you did not enjoy your dining experience, we do not claim to be fine dining, nor have a Michelin star chef, we provide home cooked food in an intimate, friendly restaurant. But we must ask " more too pricey" who are you comparing us to? we give complimentary amuse bouche/a nibble with the pre dinner drinks, fresh homemade bread with starters and potato wedges and fresh vegetable are included in the price of the main courses. not to mention the linen tablecloths and napkins. We did notice you have also reviewed "Tea for Two" and McDonalds which of course are completely different dining experiences!I cannot recall the day you visited but to be quiet on a weekend is irrelevant for us as our main customer base are the ex pats who live here and will eat out on any day of the week as we open Thursday to Monday evenings. As we just celebrate 15 years of business, we admit we are not everyone's "cup of tea" but thank you for telling!

Horrible food- Not family friendlyWhen you walk in to a place and the waitress is sitting there drinking frappe and smoking a vape! then she gets up to serve you.I went with my family including two children. We were not impressed on arrival but the kids were really hungry so we just decided to give it a go.We sat inside because the tables outside were all full of smokers, so we were forced to sit inside, as didn’t want the kids inhaling the smoke, so it’s not really family friendly! We got breakfast, but I have to admit the portions are very small, and it’s not even cooked properly! The eggs definitely needed another minute or two, still slimy, the bacon had white bits on it where the grill hadn’t been cleaned out properly, the beans were cold, and half a tomato!Looking around the place, it was disorganised, no napkins on the table, the windows are that dirty you can’t even see out of them! Not a pleasant experience won’t be going again.Sometimes we reed our reviews and take them on face value, other times we look a little deeper and find out that some people are just malicious.Firstly, staff do not smoke or vape at the front of the bar, they all have to go to the back door area in the car park.Every bar, restaurant in Europe allows smoking outside, we are no exception so by your standards then every establishment is not "Family Friendly". We don't make the laws, we just apply them. You suggest that our portions are small when every other review states how big our portions are!! Our standard breakfast consists of 1 egg, 1 rasher of bacon, 1 sausage, Baked beans, grilled tomato, 1 slice of fried bread and one thick cut slice of toast. Our large breakfast consists of two eggs, two bacon, 2 sausages, beans, mushrooms, fried bread and thick cut toast. Hardly small portions are they? You mention no napkins on the table, if you had actually been here and eaten you would have known that they are brought to the table with the cutlery!!And to your final point, we have a window cleaner who comes every Saturday and cleans all the folding glass doors as we do not have any windows!! The doors are all opened and folded back on themselves at 9 am when we open and they remain that way until 2am when we close them at the end of the night. So if you had been in the bar you would have known that there are no windows. Finally It is my opinion that you have not eaten at Chalkie's you are simply putting a review on to effect our business which is a very sad thing to do.In summary, customers smoking outside is not an issue within our control as legally they are entitled too. Our portions are not small as proven above, all our reviews state how good our food is but you have decided that it's not cooked properly. You mention no napkins when clearly they are brought to you with your cutlery and then you state that our windows are dirty when we don't have any!! Really!!!!
