Agriturismo Gli Ulivi

After reserving the dinner for 6 people and 2 baby-strollers, we ended up dealing with highly rude stuff, being pissed off with us that the place reserved had no physical place for strollers. Then they tried to persuade us that we never made a reservation even though there was a free table for 6 people on our surname?!?!? After ignoring their obvious rudeness and bad education, and kindly waiting for another table, the old lady (supposed owner) stood up, SCREAMING at us, embarrassing us in front of the full restaurant, even having the dignity to lecture us on how we should behave and when we should eat when with babies! She even pushed one of us, starting to be aggressive. Should I repeat, always screaming. I can understand everything, but being rude and impolite for no reason, or at least, not our mistake, I can not. Horrible! Wouldn't go there even if they would offer free food for life! Sad people!

Sa Bingia

We walked here from the other side of town, but it was just as well that we arrived with a huge appetite. We booked for dinner and were shown to a table promptly on arrival and already it was busy with couples and big family tables. Straight away we were brought water, wine, bread and olives. First came a nice selection of meat and cheese with very deicious flavoured breads, plus kidney and olives in a rich sauce. Then there were three types of pasta, one with fennel and sausage, and two kinds of ravioli. All tasted good. Next was a plate of raw veg, the radishes were the hottest we'd ever had. After that a big piece of delicious, well-cooked roast pork. Then watermelon followed by feather light pastries drizzled in honey Wow, what a feast. It was finished off with espresso and a mirto. The service thoughout was very efficient and our wine was topped up without fuss. We were impressed by the generosity of the meal but a bit concerend by the waste as we saw lots of half-eaten dishes going back. We wondered if it would be better to give smaller portions but offer to top-up on request? We really enjoyed our meal and it was unbelievable value at 34 euros a head. Highly recommended!

Having read the reviews here, and deciding to visit the restaurants that were high in the list, we visited "Galika" in early September 2011. We weren't disappointed. It takes a while to find it, but not that long, maybe 10 minutes' drive from the Simius Beach, and the restaurant is in the caseifici (the cheese production) area, which we found a good omen :) We were there on a Friday night, when the restaurant advertises "serata Sarda", a Sardinian evening. We expected maybe more of the entertainment to be Sardo/Sardinian, but in effect, it could have been any night; pop music (slightly loud) from the radio, the restaurant is modern and well decorated, and it doesn't offer typical Sardinian "feel".But the food justifies that, as it is highly Sardinian! We went for two different menus: menu sardo (28 €, water and wine included) and menu Goloso (fish menu (30 €, aperitif and one glass of Vermentino included). In fact, I wanted to try the Menu del pescatore (28 €; fisherman's menu), but the waitress was told in the kitchen that, with the day in question being Friday, they could not do it, but offered as an alternative the other fish menu - Menu Goloso. The Menu Goloso has 2 choices for antipasti, 2 choices for 1st course and 2 choices for 2nd course, and tiramisu for dessert. At first, the house offer of antipasto arrives to the table- calamaretti fritti and a glass of prosecco wine. I honestly wasn't impressed; it was like the rest from the calamari frying pan was being transfered to my plate. The antipasto chosen was tartara di salmone (with orange sauce) and a glass of prosecco wine. The taste was... bland. Nicely served, though (all fish menu meals were served very nicely!). Not recommended. For the second course, I wanted the risotto from the offer on the menu, but I was informed that I can't order it because they must have at least 2 orders in the restaurant of the entire Menu goloso to be able to prepare the risotto. I asked if they could prepare two risotto portions, and as we were 3 persons, the 3rd person (who didn't opt for the menus) could have the risotto for their first course (and be paid extra, no problem), and still they said no. So I was really left with no option, but to order the linguini con moscardini e pomodorini alla mazzarese - and with that I was served a glass of Vermentino di Cagliari. Vote: OK. The second course was sogliola con pure di patate e carote - I was served two tiny pieces of fish with potato puree and two tiny pieces of fish with carrots puree. The taste was excellent, but it was the size of a snack, not a meal. The tiramisu dessert was very good. So, for the fish menu called Menu Goloso - I would recommend to skip it, as it is a pretentious "high cuisine" style of the menu, and it honestly doesn't justify the value for money. Now, as for the Menu Sardo (28 €) - I would highly recommend it! As antipasto, you are served a huge portion of prosciutto, lardo, spicy sausage, fresh type of sausage (not spicy), something like bresaola, pecorino sardo cheese, a glass of honey, served on the pane carasau background. All excellent (and 3 can eat that, a huge portion!), apart from pane carasau, which was not fresh. The 1st course sardinian meal: cullurgiones alla menta e malloredus al ragu - fanastic! One is mild due to the mint, the ragu in the other pasta is spicy, a great combination! 2nd course sardinian meal: porceddu with potatoes from the oven - very, very good. Accompanied with a glass of Cannonau wine included in the menu. The desert: seadas - average to bad: covered in honey, then sugar, with lemon in the cheese filling - the taste was undefined, so I wouldn't recommend it at all. So, I would say that the Menu Sardo (appearantly you can have it any evening, not just on Friday) REALLY justifies the value for money! The third person had bruschetta with tuna, onions and mozzarella cheese (5,50 €), and it was excellent! The bread is dripped over with olive oil just the right amont, it is baked just right, and the other ingredients are so fresh. They actually have a bruschette menu, and if we were still there, we would definitively come back to try them all! (We actually saw people who came in just to have a bruschetta and Aperol!).For the 3rd dessert, we chose Mousse al cioccolato bianco - in my book, it is slightly not foamy enough to be justified the name, but if you consider it a white chocolate cream, it is perfect. Dripped with dark chocolate sauce (not sugary, which made for an excellent balance) - it was really good (5 €). Mirto sardo (the red one) for digestive - I didn't quite like it, although I usually do, so... We had extra wine and water ordered which didn't appear on the bill; we weren't charged coperto (couvert), either. 80 € for all (tip included): overall, value for money = really good.Especially if you choose the Sardinian (meat) menu!!! Service was excellent, really fast and efficient, and we felt that they took good care of their guests. Bathrooms are very clean, and the whole restaurant is really nicely decorated.
