Beware of Going in the Summer!!
Reviewed By John BThe hotel is beautiful and as advertised. BUT there are 2 issues to beware of both due to it being on the top of a hill over the town. 1. There is no protection from hot sun. The balconies are nice, but there is no awning and the hotel faces south, so sun beats down on the balcony morning till night making it unusable when it is hot. We walked around the neighborhood and saw that every other hotel and every house and apartment have some kind of awning over their balconies, giving them shade from the blistering sun. Also, because of the relentless sun, the room continues to heat up all day. The staff's recommendation is to close the blinds of your room from 9:00am to 8:00 p.m.---which results in no view of the town and no moving air. It is stiflingly hot. Despite charging over 200 euros a night, they refuse to buy a 40 euro fan for the room as other hotels that charge much less do. Staff claims it was an unusual hot spell, but records show that Germany has these hot spells almost every year now, probably because of Global Warming. 2. Being on the top of the hill means you have a long walk down to the street along the lake which is where everyone wants to go. It is about 25 minutes, despite the staff telling you it is 5 minutes. The 5 minutes gets you down to the highest level of the town, but there are a couple more levels down to get to the lake. The challenge once you are down at the lake is to get back up in the blistering heat--parts of the hill are very steep--at about a 30 degree angle (or so it seemed). In summary, it is a great hotel if the weather is cool and you are willing and able to make long, difficult walks down and especially back up.

Reviewed By MerzMaSchönes kleines Hotel. Wir waren hier für 2 Nächte und hatten unsere Fahrräder dabei. Die man über Nacht auf die Sonnenterrasse stellen kann die von außen nicht zugänglich ist. Parkplätze sind direkt vor dem Hotel, hier kann man auch gut sein Fahrradträger dran lassen und brauch keine Angst zu haben, das einer dagegen fährt. Das Frühstück wird sehr nett angerichtet und ausstreichend. Das Zimmer war sehr sauber und im Ursprünglichen Still des Hauses. Wenn das Fenster zu ist hört man von der Straße nichts. Der Empfänger war sehr sympathisch und gab auch gute Empfehlungen.

Small room with a stunning view for early risers and night owls
Reviewed By AfficheOur room faced the lake -right in front of one of the main ship docks- and above a lively restaurant- the rooms have no air conditioning and although sound proof when closed this is not an option mid summer- but for night owls this is not a problem - the town goes quiet by midnight and all one hears is the light wind breeze , gulls and ducks- the breakfast was copious served a few minutes away-outside the old town - overall a pleasant stay for one night

As a regular gym goer I was deligthed to find a full gym n the basement, with machines and free weights all in excellent order. Town centre is a short walk down the hill. we will be back. Bravo!

Reviewed By ChrisR0208it is a very nice, small hotel directly on the waterfront. The rooms are clean and lovingly furnished. The view from the window is fantastic - directly on the lake. The staff is very friendly. You should park outside Meersburg. You can reach everything on foot. I recommend a visit to the small bar in the evening

Reviewed By marcpT8280QJNo one would ever be a repeat customer here. Ordered Tafelspitze with steamed potatoes. Eventually a man approached our table, we did not initially recognize him as a working there since he was poorly dressed in a t-shirt and jeans, was however an employee there and had our order. What was served was two pieces of something brown that looked like meat. One piece was triangular in shape and about 7-8mm thick. Cutting into this piece it was quite rubbery. It was pure cartilage (Knorpel). Because of the shape, size, and consistency I am wondering if it was not a slice of beef but rather an ear with the hide removed, perhaps pork ear. I don’t know how you get such a large piece of cartilage otherwise. The potatoes were obviously cooked long before and then micro-waved to heat them up. Thy were wrinkled on the outside and only hot in the very middle. As we were ready to leave the waitress who took our order returned and took away the unfinished meal. Soon Mr. T-shirt came back and asked the problem. When explained to him he said “we have served 10 other people this today and no one has complained”. Of course, we don’t believe him and will not be going back. Next time we are in that area we will wait until to get to Ueberlingen or Marktdorf and go to McDonalds, much better food than here.

Reviewed By David GSeating in the both the bar and the two outside areas from which to enjoy a good selection of hot snacks.served all through the day until about 7pm. Good variety of beers complement the very acceptable wines. Great spot for a coffee, a drink and/or snacks and watch the world drift by. We didn't stay here so can't really comment on the B&B facilities. The star ratings are therefore only based on the snack bar.

Minibar - forget, micro fridge 15x35 cm, enough for 2 cans only - expensive parking in the sun in 500m away - no lift, no help with luggage - breakfast in 300m - with key from your room you can open any door at this “hotel” Enjoy your stay!
