Great hotel, superb food
Reviewed By XKSueGreat location if you are using the motorway to get from UK to Croatia. Lana is perched high up a small mountain road. It is in a German speaking part of Italy, and staff in the hotel spoke little Italian or English. (On reflection I guess the name was a bit of a clue!) It was run with Germanic efficiency and appeared to include several associated buildings offering accommodation as well as the main building. An elaborate children's adventure play area was accessed off the terrace where you could eat outside under cover. It was obviously a hotel which welcomed families. The standard of the food was excellent. Service was friendly and speedy. We would be very happy to stay there again.

Reviewed By oliweraarthis time we stayed 5 nights in one of the beautiful suites. although the weather was not as good as usual there we enjoyed a relaxed time again. the swimming pool is perfect for everyone and the restaurant is great with excellent service.

Website and brochure misleading
Reviewed By bc_foodloverBefore I start- we love Lana. We have been there before and the people are authentic, friendly, and amazing. So when picking an accommodation we put a lot of trust in our research on websites and via email contact. This place checked all those boxes and seemed priced competitively to equal accommodations we are aware of in town. But, I feel compelled to warn travellers that the marketing brochure, website, and “wellness” and relaxation is misleading from what the experience is actually like. When we arrived we were given a 1 bedroom suite, even though we booked and paid for a 2 bedroom suite. When we brought it up we were shown a 2 bedroom that was not great, and not as per the layout of the website. So we stuck with the 1 bedroom suite. We were offered a lower price, but only after we commented that we booked and were quoted for a 2 bedroom. So not off to a great start. First of all, the rooms are not what they look like in the brochure. They have dated uncomfortable furnishings. The bed is very uncomfortable - you can feel the springs in the bed digging in to your back. The pillows are older and packed out. By the look of the website you think you would be staying at a well appointed modern suite. But it is not. We are staying in the apartment residences, and it is very dated. There was also barely anyone working at reception. I understand this is a family run accommodation and it was over the holiday period, but we didn’t feel there was enough oversight to guests. The lights in the lobby are always off. To the point where it is unsafe to walk down the hall. There would be no relaxing in the lounge as there are no lights on. In winter it gets dark early. Too bad; you cannot use the nicer looking lounge for the dark. I understand that in slow season economies are made, but I believe the residences were full while we were staying there. For wellness...the swimming pool indoors seems ok, but we didn’t use it. Also you have to pay to use the sauna, it is not included. Not sure how we would as no one is at reception ever to ask. I don’t recall seeing that you have to pay extra for those facilities on the website. And finally, the worst offender- the acoustics. you can hear EVERYTHING. in the next room. In the room below. In reception. We were at the top floor and we can hear people in reception in the next building. Everything is a hard surface so it just bounces. So much for a sense of relaxation. The worst part is, there is a group with about 8 children who are letting them run up and down yelling, from room to room, with no control. There is a big playroom off the lobby but they didn’t use it. We had to complain to them directly several times. If someone was actually working at reception perhaps they could say something but no one is to be found. It made for a very uncomfortable situation. I would not recommend this hotel. The acoustics are horrid, the furniture uncomfortable, and the rooms dated. I’m sure the management is friendly (from the limited contact we had with them) but can’t comment more than that as we had barely any contact.

Reviewed By may13222This is self catering accommodation. We had a bedroom, small kitchen and lounge across the back of the house. This meant we had windows on both sides of house so could always be in a cooler room when it was hot. Small balcony overlooking orchards on one side and looking down into the valley on the otherside. Kitchen fairly basic with no microwave but plenty of crockery. Owner does not speak much english but very pleasant and helpful. If you want to get away from it all and love the mountains this is a wonderful place to go. The towns of Morano and Bolzano are not far away for more life and Lana is handy for supplies.

Reviewed By Lukic80Wir haben zwei Nächte im Landhaus verbracht. Die kleine Ferienwohnung war neu und blitzsauber. Die Küche war vollständig ausgestattet. Der Umgang mit uns war super freundlich und wir haben uns willkommen gefühlt. Direkt gegenüber ist das "Backificio" - eine hervorragende Bäckerei. Bis in die Fußgängerzone von Lana sind es auch nur wenige Schritte zu Fuß. Den gemütlichen aber sehr schönen "Brandis-Waalweg erreicht man ebenfalls zu Fuß. Vielen Dank für einen schönen und entspannten Kurzaufenthalt in Lana.

Reviewed By Stefan AJust a stopover on our drive towards Stelvio, I managed to find this hotel near Merano. A good drive up the mountain, through a few hair-pins, you arrive in the lovely Lana. A small municipality with a strong alpine character. Pension an der Mayenburg is located on the main road / street, more or less next to the castle. At arrival we were welcomed by the landlady, a very nice and warm welcome, in German or English, and probably Italian, too. We were given a nice room with a balcony, very comfortable beds, and toilet and shower en suite. The room did not have a minibar, but there is a room downstairs where you can pick up a beer or a wine, should you so wish. The beds (double) were excellent, and as always in the alps, we slept like small children. In the morning there was a very generous breakfast served, like the ones you tend to have in Austria or Germany, with pretty much 'everything' available. All-in-all, not a place where you are likely to end up by accident, but if you're looking for accommodation in the area, I am more than happy to recommend Pension and der Mayenburg!

Reviewed By sb-vacanzaCamere ed appartamenti situati al secondo piano di un condominio in centro a Lana, gestiti da una cortesissima sig.ra fransiska, che parla un ottimo italiano e gestisce l'adiacente hotel Landhaus ( è alla reception di questo ultimo che dovete andare a chiedere le chiavi; anche il parcheggio privato è condiviso). La camera era nuova e pulitissima, unico difetto il bagno molto piccolo. In camera c'è la TV, un piccolo frigobar ed un ventilatore ( non è stato necessario usarlo). Si dorme solo, ma di fronte c'è un forno per la colazione, sotto c'è un supermercato e a 50 m un biergarten per la cena: tutto comodissimo. Le tre camere condividono un ingresso comune ed un grazioso balconcino con poltroncine. Consigliatissimo!!
