is feedback welcome?

Reviewed By Wander753542

after my one night stay I received a check out email asking for feedback. I sent it to the Inn email rather than posting my experience online - best that I take it up with ‘them’ first. Seems the desk person who checked me out is also the manager and fielded my email feedback - and quite literally turned on me, the customer. My verbal report to her in person was that no matter how conscientious I was taking a shower - water escaped onto the drywall and puddles on the floor. She replied that she had never heard that before…. wasn’t the curtain long enough? Surely she would know cause there would be other people reporting it and soaked towels on the floor. Well, I replied the curtain was wide and long enough but it still happened, says I. She proceeded to explain on and on…and I said - “ I am ** yrs old and know how to use a shower curtain now I’m sorry I said anything. “ She says ‘can’t I talk?’ ME: I do not need to hear a report on the history …” SILENCE She handed me the receipt, I said thank you and left. The email I sent to the INN got a defence from the same staffer. It didn’t say if she would forward my feedback to the owner. In my email I suggested my comment ought to have evoked a simple ‘ oh dear, thanks for letting us know’ …. not a lengthy explanation on and on thru an acrylic shield. She promptly replied to my email and noted that she was shocked and taken aback how I responded - as it was very sharp and uncalled for….” what? …and she thought her questions were posed in a friendly manner ,,,, to determine the exact nature … Honest to gosh…. let me out of here…. Just keep it simple and say - ‘thx for reporting this - I’ll pass it along’ And don’t forget she pointed out that no one has ever had a problem with the shower except me, but that she will instigate a survey with future guests,,,,isn’t that passive aggressive? She apologized that I couldn’t keep the water in the shower! I tried to keep this between them and me …and I don’t expect that people won’t stay there because of a staffer…. I admit, I have stayed there several times, had complained about various things, like not being able to figure out the remote, or not getting an upgrade or about price increases, and a guy sitting in his work truck drinking for hours on end. I’m not afraid to speak up. But why would I bother to mention my experience to get this grief? I was very Conscientious and know how water can ruin the drywall. It was just a heads up. In hindsight, I wonder if it is those curved bars holding the curtain that impedes a good fit, Anyhow, I concur my communication style is direct and I know i would not do well in customer service,,,it’s hard to deflect and to navigate without being defensive - it’s an art.

Nothing great

Reviewed By Cathyt20132013

Check in went well, good staff at the desk. Room smelled very much like wet dogs. I do understand that all main floor rooms are pet friendly but it didn’t seem to have been cleaned thoroughly. The breakfast provided (included in the price) had slim pickings when we got there 30mins before it closed. Not even a slice of bread to make toast. Not a very good representation for the Comfort Inn chain.

Nice staff but scary location

Reviewed By colebmenard

It was a 210 dollar stay for a very dirty room, there were holes in the screen so mosquitos came in at night. As soon as we arrived while parking someone or possibly two people died in the parking lot from a drug overdose and we were yelled at to call 911, police and ambulance were then there for the rest of the day and most of the night. Did not feel safe there. Just a scarring experience and will never stay in Kenora again.

Timberland Inn

Clean rooms and comfortable beds

Reviewed By buckylasturd

The room #6 was as advertised, very clean and had comfortable beds. The cleaning staff was friendly and did a great job but the management seemed overwhelmed and while the weren’t rude they were not friendly or particularly helpful either. The restaurant and patio which were a huge reason we chose the Inn were both inaccessible for our trip, being used for storage and completely filled with empty boxes. I thought the price was a bit high especially considering that a big part of the amenities were closed to guests.
