Kavarna (Bulgarian: Каварна, Romanian: Cavarna) is a Black Sea coastal town and seaside resort in the Dobruja region of northeastern Bulgaria. It lies 64 kilometres (40 miles) northeast of Varna, 49 km (30 mi) from Dobrich on the international road E87 and 43 km (27 mi) south of the border with Romania. It is the principal town of Kavarna Municipality, part of Dobrich Province . As of December 2009, the town has a population of 11,397 inhabitants. A little yacht port, a fishing base, a spacious beach and a resort complex exist in the town. The landmark Cape Kaliakra is located a few kilometers to the east, as is the tiny beachfront resort of Rusalka. Three 18-hole golf courses with villa communities and marinas are being developed nearby, two of the courses are designed by Gary Player and one by Ian Woosnam.

Do not get fulled by the number of stars of the hotel the restaurant is. It is not by far a 4 star restaurant. All the items we have orderred were frozen. Even the soup was an instant one. Stuff was ok. On top, the prices were around 20% more then în other places we have eaten în Balchik. I do not recommended it.

This restaurant most definitely should be paid a visit if you stay on the northern coast of Bulgaria. The restaurant offers not only a large variety of mussels dishes but serves fish meals as well. The atmosphere is quite unique. The tables are right next to the sea. The staff was extra nice as well. Last but not least, I've found the prices reasonable.

Good food, good service. Lovely setting.
My one tiny observation would be that the staff please wait until we finish our food before taking the plates away! This seems to be a common theme in Bulgaria for some odd reason.
We had 2 plates on the table with food on them and the staff whisked them away before we had finished.
We will go back as the good was great.

The location is very nice arranged nearby the seaside with a great view. The food is good, tasty and served in generous portions for decent prices. The dishes seems to be cooked on spot, probably this justify the long waiting time inspite the restaurant was almost empty.
I tried traditional Bulgarian tarator cold soup and chicken sache both new for me but incredible tasty.
Waiters reactivity would be an improvement point.
Overall a nice experience.

We came across this intimate restaurant almost 11 years ago during a very romantic wedding one of our friends chose to celebrate there. It was so unforgettable for us that almost every year since then we try to visit the serene and most beautiful little Balcik town and this restaurant.
We warmly recommend the mussels in garlic sauce! It' s simply divine!
The restaurant is quite small but each guest is charmed by the surrounding view of the delicate yet royal castle of Queen Mary of Romania. ( A true and fascinating piece of history).
We were bewitched by this place( palace, palace Gardens, the restaurant and the wineries ) and the flavour of the authentic dishes.

We have visited this place exactly one year ago (see review) and during this year we heard many friends saying what great dinner they had at El Balcon.
So we tried again ... and obtained exactly same result :-)
The view is magnificent and people were nice, especially as we decided what to order very slow.
But the food remains average, we tried pasta, duck, pork, chicken and nothing was bad but the label "one of the best restaurants in Bulgaria" recquires more.
Also we recommend them to improve bath hygene and especially to add something for keeping kids busy in order to make parents happy :-)
The place, people and potential are there, just one step to become a great place.
Price is rather high for Bulgaria but much better than restaurants in the three golf resorts that are around.
Can try for the view - by the way, during Summer go before 8 and in Sep go before 7 in order to enjoy the Cliffs and sea view.
Later you lose the best.

After 30 minutes of waiting i have CALLED the waiter to pick the order. Instead of apologies and food we received the news that the restaurant it's overbooked and it will take a while untill we will eat, this in spite of the fact that we asked for the restaurant disponibility before taking seat at the table. Meanwhile the customers that were seated at next table and came at the same time were already eating. The worst part i think it was that the waiter was actually the owner !

First time in Kavarna, for few days. Family of 5. After first dinner at Balgarska, we have decided to have all breakfasts, all lunches and all dinners here. Delicious food, decently fast service, good romanian & english speaking, credit card payment accepted - therefore, THE option for restaurant in Kavarna (beach) is this. You will not regret it. The mediterranean dishes are great, the veal skew is outstanding, children dishes just fine. Good variety, nice service, friendly staff. A place to return to. Recommeded.

Sono stato a mangiare in questo locale una bellissima giornata di inizio ottobre con una temperatura piacevolissima, infatti abbiamo mangiato fuori. La location, come da titolo ha un esterno con una bellissima vista sul mare. Il menu sinceramente mi ha un pò deluso non per la qualità perchè il pesce che abbiamo mangiato era buono ed anche fresco ma per le porzioni un pò ridotte a mio giudizio. Devo ammettere che sono un mangione, ma in Bulgaria di solito le porzioni sono più generose.
Da migliorare anche un pò il servizio ma nel complesso un locale accettabile per una mangiata passeggera come abbiamo fatto noi.

We had lunch there, and it was a very nice experience. We had a beautiful view over the sea and the coast. The waiters were friendly, our food was good - however a bit slow. Two of our kids got their food when the rest of us had finished our food. I liked their homemade cake.
There are nice bathrooms in the basement.
